I have yet to find a Charlotte fan that thinks we are going to win. CLT is a schtick. He's been doing that since the 90's. I wouldn't expect you to know that, because I'm sure you weren't rooting for app in the 90's. nobody was. The fact that you don't get the joke makes me question your intelligence, and part of why we poke fun at App degrees. And ECU degrees. Don't say that you get the joke, because it's what you referred to as "hubris."
That's the thread. Don't see much hemming and hawing going on.
Reasons why I think the game will be CLOSER than last year:
1) As you will see in the thread, I don't think we are going to win. I want to make that clear.
2) You guys lost 6 very talented players on defense. It's very hard to maintain that level of success following a departure such as that.
3) Drink is a good playcaller, but Scott Satterfield is a program altering type of coach. You lost him. Bryan Brown was a very underrated D coordinator. You lost him as well. Ted Roof is not as good at his job as Bryan Brown
4) Your best player is suspended, and it's a questionable decision at best. I wonder how it went over in the locker room.
5) You guys have a huge game following your game with us.
6) We replaced absolutely the worst in game coach I have ever witnessed. I have no clue if Healy is a good in game coach yet, but it can't get worse.
Next List: Reasons I don't think you watched our game:
A) 2 of our three picks literally hit receivers in the face.
B) GW didn't have a sustained drive until late in the 3rd quarter. If this were app you'd say "bUt ThE sUbZ wErE iN" because it's us, you say Gardner Webb shoved it down our throat like the 85 bears.
C) for some reason you assume only appalachian state makes defensive substitutions.
Not getting a schtick and thinking said schtick is lame are completely different.
It’s true that most UNCC fans in that thread are very reasonable, but to be fair your fans start so many threads about App it’s hard to keep all the posts straight ( really enjoyed the back and forth on whether beating App or Clemson would be a bigger win for UNCC this year).
As to the game, -21 seems about right. We’re not 100% there.

Two threads, both started by CLT, one of which is the legit gameday thread and a thread about parking/tailgating at App started by an App fan.
Yeah, tons of App thread to weed through on NN.N.

Ericsaid went to ECU, yet is a very vocal App fan, lots of hot takes.
Both App and UNCC ran base offense and defensive plays 90% of the time last week. To Clayton's point earlier I'd expect App to be fairly vanilla again this week as they play UNCCH next.
The Sutton suspension for another game is puzzling and I don't believe we'll play our starting S, Franklin, or OT, Johnson, if we don't need to. Peoples may be out for the rest of the season. Any injury update on UNCC?
App should win by a comfortable 2-3 TDs based upon the current rosters.

And we started a little tight, scored 35 points on them in 17 minutes and called the dogs off.
This game was a lot of things, competitive wasn’t one of them.

I'm just glad y'all finally have a winning record against them. It was embarrassing the whole system

The dislike of UNCCH is strong within both fanbases, but both have more than needed alums that pull for them too.
Both fan bases have improved in this area since the 90's, still not where it needs to be however. I know plenty of UNCC alums that wear tarheel gear and never attend UNCC athletic events.

I think this sums up why App fans have a dislike of UNCC and a disinterest in wanting to use the label of rivals for UNCC. The ad hominem attacks.
UNCC is seen by App fans as a new age WCU; a fan base way out of their league.
If you view everything posted by a UNCC fan through the lens of noting that that person thinks the SEC has them on speed dial (hell, that’s person likely thought 5 years ago that UNCC would be SEC by NOW), it makes it a little easier to understand when they jump off the reality train.

We’re going to be underdogs in this game, but this isn’t a game where the talent gap is so big that we have no chance (aka our Clemson game).
If we get lucky or catch App on a bad day we could steal this one, however I don’t see that happening. My guess is we end up with a 35-24 App victory, with us adding a garbage time score to make it look a bit closer.

clt says the appys cannot understand that football is all about match-ups. last year nate davis (current nfl player) was out, thus allowing appy to have an easier time. with davis in the game, charlotte wins in a close one.

This is true, but I'd like to see you quantify that chance.
ESPN's FPI is 90%, that sounds about right.

I hope you charlotte guys have a good time in boone. I think this will be an important rivalry one day. I will be the first to say, for both app and charlotte fans, I dont know why some of you act this way. App fans trying to prove we are better than a new football program that's just getting started? Charlotte fans acting like they are a superior educational institution? Rivalries are awesome...and I expect both sides to act ridiculous in an app/georgia southern scenrio...or charlotte with their biggest rivals...but you guys are acting a little weird for a game with 1 games history.
Is App a better football program than charlotte? Absolutely. No one questions that. Is charlotte a better basketball program? Absolutely. No one questions that. Does that mean we couldn't be in for a good game this weekend? No. Should be an important game in building something to grow both programs name in the state.
