2020 Basketball Recruiting and Roster Discussion
Over the weekend UC picked up a pair of 2020 basketball commits from Minnesota twins (no relation to the baseball team) Gabe and Mason Madsen.

Gabe projects to be a playmaking/scoring wing while Mason appears to be more of a facilitating combo guard.

The Madsen twins will join point guard commit Mike Saunders (https://247sports.com/player/mike-saunders-46047985/) as the 2nd and 3rd commits of the Bearcats' 2020 class which currently has 5 scholarship openings.

As of now here is the roster outlook for 20/21:

Center
Chris Vogt 7'1 (Junior)

Power Forward
Mamoudou Diarra 6'9 (Junior)
Prince Toyambi 6'6 (Sophomore)

Small Forward
Keith Williams 6'5 (Senior)
Jeremiah Davenport 6'7 (Sophomore)
Gabe Madsen 6'6 (Freshman)

Shooting Guard
Trevor Moore 6'5 (Senior)
Zach Harvey 6'4 (Sophomore)
Mason Madsen 6'3 (Freshman)

Point Guard
Mika Adams-Woods 6'3 (Sophomore)
Mike Saunders 6'0 (Freshman)

Who do you think Brannen and the coach staff should target with the last two scholarships? 1 big? 2 bigs? 1 upperclassman?

I'd like to see us land JJ Traynor and Tari Eason. Scrubbs would be a homerun but he is currently projected as a mid-late 1st rounder so his decision seems like it will be delayed till the late spring. I'd rather focus on closing the 2020 recruiting class early to allow the staff to fully focus on future classes where we are in on higher level talent.

Just basing off 247 it looks like we also have an outside shot at John Hugley 6' 9" 240 4* out of Cleveland, but yes I think the consensus is to fill the class out sooner rather than later with a couple lengthy, athletic kids.

If both of those scholarships go to top150 guys, that class would be incredible for Brannen's first full year.

Adding Traynor and Eason to the 247 class calculator gives UC a team score of 57.66 which would be roughly a top 25 class based on the previous 4 years.
