RE: Best AD Jobs In The ACC
To those who think there are only 4 teams with less football success than GT I have a bridge to sell you. Unless you're measuring success from 2015 onward. I have same gripes with facilities (uh, hello, the GTAA is in debt in no small part because Radakovich upgraded everything on planet Earth on credit card.) Same with donor support with AI2020 smashing the A-T Fund annual record.

Those rankings look about right with Mike Bobinski as the AD at GT. They look completely wrong with Todd Stansbury in the driver's seat.

Similarly ... only 4 worse than UNC on compliance? I would think fraud should send you directly to the end of the line past even Miami.

RE: Best AD Jobs In The ACC
Interesting article. Not so sure about some of the factors, such as quality of life. The AD at Syracuse is an alum and former #2 man at ESPN and from the area so I am pretty sure he made a lot more money at ESPN. Depending on the person, weather is not a big deal especially if you are used to it and Syracuse is really nice in the summer and good for fishing.
I would guess that the ADs for Clemson (football) , Duke (Basketball) and North Carolina (basketball), Syracuse (basketball) are in good positions because you great coaches in their sports and do not really have to worry about at least one of their money generating sports.

Duke is a better AD job than UNC becuause Duke does not need winning football and Duke is private so sheilded from the press. Other than that, I tend to agree.

RE: Best AD Jobs In The ACC
VT looks middle of the ACC in every category with a tick higher in football success and leadership alignment and a tick lower in quality of life and non-revenue success. I'm a little surprised facilities are 9th because they've been in a constant state of upgrade since I was there in 91-96.

The only measure I disagree with is quality of life being tied for 10th. I have trouble believing there are 10 places in the whole world better to live at than Blacksburg much less the 15 ACC locations. Maybe it's changed since the mass shooting or maybe they're ranked lower because of it. Either way, I can't say the rankings aren't fair.

Jesus- BC, Pitt and Miami taking up the rear spot in nearly every category. Seems a little harsh, especially for the U and Pitt.

Comparing the football success rank in the article with the average Sagarin rating over the past 10 years:

School...........Study....Sagarin (10yr)

Clemson...........1...........1
Florida St..........2...........2
Notre Dame......3...........3
Miami...............4..........5
Va Tech.............5..........4
Louisville...........6..........7
UNC.................7..........9
NC State...........8.........10
Virginia.............9.........15
Ga Tech...........10..........6
Syracuse..........10........13
Pitt..................12.........8
Duke................13........12
BC...................14........11
Wake................15........14

So the OP author basically pushed down GT and Pitt so he could inflate UNC, NC State and UVA. Old ACC bias. He also pushed BC down 3 spots, while elevating Syracuse 3 spots. So correction: basketball school bias!

Cuse is not just a basketball school anymore.

RE: Best AD Jobs In The ACC
If I'm reading the link correctly, this chart isn't produced by an "author". It is a compilation of survey responses by about 100 ADs or prospective ADs about their peceptions of the ACC. So if there is bias, it is ADs from outside the ACC who are responsible for it. I edited (or thought I edited) my post to read "study" instead of "author". Apparently, it didn't take the first time, so I'll try again.

Hard to see why they would want to favor Tobacco Road schools, or any other schools for that matter.

Well, if BC ever wins anything in the ACC, no one will be able to accuse us of cheating! Bottom of the barrel in everything but compliance. We may not win, but, we apparently play by the rules.02-13-banana

Not sure how the quality of life was so low for BC, its nice to live in Boston.
I don't know how Miami is so low either. Sure there is a lot of crime in Miami but the weather is pretty good.

Boston is a great city, but, it's expensive. I'm thinking quality of life is so low because of the housing costs. Other than housing, Boston compares very favorably to any other city....entertainment options are endless, the educational system is strong, etc.
