RE: Each Of Brady White's Throws
7 years ago we lost to UT Martin to open the season.

Now we have people complaining that we only beat an SEC team 15-10 and calling Ole Miss one of the worst teams in the country. Yea, we weren't clicking on offense. Yea, we shot ourselves in the foot and should have gotten more points. It happens, it will be cleaned up. We have an identity on defense now. We probably got more conservative after we noticed they weren't really going to move the ball against us.

We dominated their offensive line. We drove the clock out with 7 minutes of running plays against an SEC opponent. It looked different than what we are used to seeing, yea, but we lost to worse teams last year when our offense wasn't clicking.

Many surprises at both ends.
- A full half of White's passes (16) never crossed the line of scrimmage; including many in long down and distance

- A full 1/3 of White's passes traveled more than 10 yards past the line of scrimmage. I thought it was less

- The biggest surprise; on most of the passes that traveled 10 yards or more, our receivers were wide open

- Another 2nd half shutout for the offense

- On our 2nd touchdown drive of 35 yards, all of the yards were on the ground

So the narrative is often that our receivers can't get open, can't get separation; but again, if you look at all of the longer throws our receivers were almost always open and often wide open.

Saloogi is going to spring a chub with this level of stat giving.

Haha.

It is interesting for sure.

My only counter/issue is that EVERY QB misses throws--literally.

I would like to see how Bo Nix from Auburn charted or Herbert from Oregon. He was lauded as proving his worth as the best frosh recruit by going 13 for 31 for 179 yards.

Also, those numbers don't indicate the level of pressure.

Certainly, Brady doesn't seem to have what Riley or Pax had. But he's not useless.

I also think that until Riley actually RUNS on an RPO, then the linebackers won't respect that and continue to affect line blocking.

Ole Miss is GARBAGE. One of the worst teams in college football and might not win 2 games this year.

We have some serious flaws on offense, and it starts with Cindy Brady White.

Hey clown, how about let’s see if you have any cojones or just a big mouth? Another great “fan”, insulting a Tiger player.

Since “Ole Miss is garbage” according to you, they should have no chance against Arkansas this Saturday.

I’ll take the Rebs, you take the Hogs. If the Rebs win, you leave the board for the rest of the year. Same for me if the Hogs win. 450 Bench can enforce it.

Deal? Or are you just all mouth and no balls?

Yea, Ole Miss wins by 7. 03-wink

Let’s see if big mouth TiminMem has any gonads. We already know he knows nothing about football.

Negative. It appears you don't understand basic logic. Have you heard anything about Arkansas football the last several years? They are also very, very bad. In fact, I think it's safe to say that Ole Miss and Arkansas are the two worst teams in the SEC.

Why would I bet on a game pitting the two worst teams in the SEC against each other?

Big mouth. No balls. What I expected.

White lost us a few games indirectly last year. True, there wasn't any glaring bad INT or fumble, but when teams loaded up on the run and short passes daring White to make a completion longer than 10 yards to get them out of said defense, he simply couldn't (see both UCF games and bowl game).

Saturday's game did nothing to ease my concern for this trend as he continued to overthrow and underthrow wide open receivers. 2ndly, why do we even have TEs on the field? I can't remember a pass to one of them in recent memory.

I'm not a BW basher, but show me a game where BW put the team on his back and won - as you would say "won alone"?.

Frankly, I'm more concerned over the play calling, but it may reflect BW's limitations as much as unimaginative & conservative calls.

In a nutshell, my opinion is that White's shortcomings dictate the scheme we face and lead to the false narrative that our receivers and tights ends can't get open; and that our offensive line isn't any good.

I chose random screenshots. I know the plays are at different times before and after the snap and I know that you can find images that show a different story. The bottom line is when I watch the games, I see defenses playing us like the two screenshots from this year. The line of scrimmage and within 10 yards is bunched up with defenders.

When Ferguson was the quarterback, defenders played off of our receivers and tight ends and the field was spread out and much more open than it has been since White has been our quarterback.

IF defenses played Ferguson like they do White; Ferguson would have killed them. IF defenses played White like they did Ferguson; White would be much better and would be much more effective.

The only way White will be able to change things is to show that he can make throws of 10+ yards. In the Old Piss game; our receivers were mostly wide open, and White almost never made the defense pay. Even on throws he hit, he almost never delivered the ball on time and in stride.

Defenses will happily allow him to hit the occasional pass when the payoff is being able bump our receivers and to bunch everyone up at the line of scrimmage.

Is there some perfect alternative to our present situation that is only visible to the few? If there is, someone please post a solution here.

Let's see if I can put this in terms of WAR.

When there is one. clear. choice--- to march ahead fearlessly, take joy in our victories, pinpoint our weaknesses and strengthen them as we go---- all of us who mutter during the march are nothing but an undertone of dissent within our Tiger force.

Be like the Mighty Sound of the South! Blast your voices true and in-step! lol

I love that band

We'll win 9 games on the backs of our RBs and DEF. Brady doesn't have to win games, he just has to not lose them. He is a game manager. I laughed when I heard CMN's postgame interview. He said Brady managed the game well, then he almost tried to unsay it. He clarified what he meant, so as to not offend anyone. Being called a manager at the QB position is (and should be) an insult. It is a great skill however to properly manage the game from behind center, just as it is valuable for a coach to manage the clock.

I'm not one to bash Brady. But I'm not against those pointing it out with reason and logic, as this post has. I don't think we have anyone better on the roster.

I think the folks who believe BW is an awful college QB need to watch more college football. He's not Tua, Hurts, Fromm, etc but wasn't the worst I saw last year or this past weekend. Not by a long shot

I hope to stay above the fray here, but I have two thoughts:

1. When we beat Ole Miss (against whom we are 11-34-2 all time), is it too much to ask to let those of us happy with the win celebrate for a couple of days before some of you guys start clogging every thread with complaints about Brady White?

2. I don't understand the criticism of White. Seems to me if you are unhappy, your beef should be with Norvell, not with Brady White. IMO, that is unfair to the kid. He didn't recruit himself, or appoint himself as the starter.

I barely care which posters get attacked, including me. Admin under fire doesn't bother me overly much, either. As for Head Coaches....they are too busy doing their jobs to consult message boards or social media for 'valuable fan input'.

But our Tiger players do use social media. Insulting our Tiger players, who were put into their roles by our Head Coaches, is lame AF.

Bingo

I hope White improves over the course of the season or perhaps our Defense can keep playing at the level they did against Ole Piss. We have a shot at the New Year's bowl game cuz of our schedule and the overall development of the team. 9 wins won't get us there IMO; I hope the games where the Defense is worn out, White can do enough to get us over the hump.

And I suspect the same site had Justin Fields move up in the Heisman watch. Throwing to receivers with no defenders within 7-10 yards of them makes ESPN froth at the mouth.

I don't know who he is, but they have him at # 8

I included the throws that were nullified by the roughing the passer and the illegal procedure; which had no effect on the actual throw. To allow for anyone to check on my accuracy, I have included the down and distance, in addition to the number of yards from the line of scrimmage each pass traveled. The line indicates the end of each drive.

The results are eye opening to say the least

1st/10 (-3)
3rd/2 (-2)

1st/10 (-2)
2nd/9 (0)
1st/10 (30), Coxie wide open, the ball was late and he caught it out of bounds, incomplete

2nd/14 (-5)
3rd/17 (-2)

3rd/2 (33) Receiver covered
------------
1st/10 (17) Pop wide open; ball underthrown, had to go to the ground to catch it, complete
1st/10 (-7)
2nd/19 Ball grounded out of bounds
4th/8 Ball thrown out of bounds
------------
1st/10 (-2)
2nd/8 (-6)
3rd/6 (8) incomplete
------------
1st/10 (33) Dykes wide open, overthrown; play nullified by illegal procedure penalty
2nd/10 (19) Jones open, ball late and underthrown
3rd/10 (15) Out of bounds, receiver covered
------------
No throws on our 35 yard TD drive
------------
1st/10 (19) Taylor wide open, complete
2nd/7 (18) Incomplete, ball was late and underthrown, but Coxie was well covered

Throws Of 10+ Yards
30 Open, incomplete
17 Open, complete
19 Open, incomplete
33 Covered, incomplete
39 Open, incomplete (nullified by procedure penalty)
19 Open, complete
18 Covered, incomplete
12 Open, complete
10 Open, complete
22 Open, complete

So the narrative is often that our receivers can't get open, can't get separation; but again, if you look at all of the longer throws our receivers were almost always open and often wide open.

So says you by your interpretation of this tripe you posted.

So, bottom line, are you saying Brady White is the best we have or are you just going to be Stammers and ***** about something and offer no solution?

Should Norvell move Bryce Huff to QB because he can throw a ball 70yds. downfield??

What's your deal, man?

The full game is on YouTube. Be my guest and find a play where I haven't accurately described it.
Quote:are you just going to be Stammers and ***** about something and offer no solution?

What solution? He is our quarterback and that's it. The solution is to recruit a better quarterback. If posters could just see him for what he is, it wouldn't be a big deal. White doesn't owe us anything and it's not his fault that he isn't Lynch or Ferguson.

I make posts like this when posters like you try to make it seem like He is a very good quarterback. We have posters who somehow give him credit when Henderson bangs out a 60 yard run.

We put up 2 touchdowns. We got shut out in the 2nd half again. On our touchdown drive of 35 yards, White didn't throw a single pass.

Thank God our defense played well. If it hadn't played a spectacular game, we would have lost to a crappy Ole Piss team by 2 touchdowns.

I'm not so much trashing White, as I am defending our talented group of wide receivers and tight ends. Since the beginning of last season, we have been hearing about how our receivers can't get open and aren't that good. Yesterday, our receivers were wide open all over the field on long throws. It is a complete myth.

You're chasing your own tail, bud.
You mad to make it seem like you know of what you speak.e that convoluted elaborate post to make it seem you know something. You don't.

You made that post trying to prove we need a diff QB.
Who has said that Brady is great?
Ans.: NO ONE THAT I'VE READ.
You should just quit and back off while you're only 20 down.

My post broke down every single passing play and my subsequent posts have been directly in response to that. Yours are all incoherent weirdo responses.

So says you.
You just like to ***** about things.
And if not, what was the purpose of that elaborate post?

What solutions do you offer other than to elaborately berate Brady White?

I read your recruit another/better QB.
That's obvious.
That's what we all know already.

You love to gripe and take issue and pound it to death.

You're a complete miserable, and that's just the way it is.
