I suspect Georgia State winning was more a product of Tennessee's complete incompetency on offense than it was Georgia State's improvement. I saw the same offensive issues with Elliot and Ellington as I'd witnessed the past three seasons.
Reminded me of the games where Georgia State would hang around when they shouldn't have when Nick Arbuckle was there. Only this time they happened to be playing a dumpster fire of a program.
Solid win, to be sure. But Tennessee is in dire straights at this point.
Tennessee is awful for sure, but a win like that gives a program like Georgia State a lot of momentum and confidence which is big especially for a team like Georgia State that’s never really had it. Florida was god awful when we beat them too, but we rode that momentum wave into the next season. I wouldn’t be surprised if Georgia State goes bowling this year.
I wouldn't be surprised to see them bowling either, but I also don't see them finishing above App State, Georgia Southern, or Troy (alphabetical order) in the East. I watched part of the Tennessee game and Tennessee reminded me of how Louisville played in the second half of the season last year. They were down one score and looked defeated. They gave up. Their quarterback made horrible decisions, the defensive alignments didn't make sense, and they overall looked like a 1 win team.
Georgia State looked better, but not any different than Georgia State's of years past, in my opinion.
Good win, based on Tennessee's name, but if you look at Tennessee the football team, it's sort of expected. My projection is that we look back on this as an average Georgia State team cleaning up a bottom tier P5 team.
That's a lot of words to explain away a beat down of an SEC team littered with 4 and 5 star players..

I think most people are hesitant because we've seen this happen before. The week after a big win almost always results in huge letdown. That's not to say that it will happen vs Furman, but there is prescient for it. We've also seen teams like South Alabama and ULM beat ranked teams and not do well in conference.
I couldn't be happier for you guys, though. It really a great milestone for your program.
South Alabama knocked off Mississippi State in 2016 and lost the next week to Tyson Summers by multiple scores.

We lost to Ga Southern and Wofford after beating Michigan in 2007. Just saying. We went on to win the title that year tho. Just saying.
