Bower
Dude just flat out balled in the second half. He was dead-on accurate the entire game. I felt like when the coaches put the game in his hands hands he just went out and dominated. He dominated the second half with his arm. Although it was “just” and FCS victory I hope Eidness figured out how to make this offense work and UNLEASH Bower against the Utes. Granted, Bower won’t have much time but I think he can dominate a game with the short passes as well and deliver on the long ones. He is the most accurate passer I’ve seen in a Huskie uniform.

Bowers looked very good last night and it seemed to me that he was too often dealing with too much pressure. I need to watch the recording to tell for sure as I had one eye on my grandchildren and one eye on the game last night. I am looking foward to watching the Huskies in the T Hammock era.

RE: Bower
Pass protection was improved in the second half and that coincided with Andrew Starr playing LT. I expect he starts next week.

RE: Bower
He seemed to be under pressure every time he tried to throw. The ISU QB had a lot more time I think.

The OL is a REAL concern, particularly the interior, but, not very good last night.

Bowers can't throw if he's running for his life. OL is an issue.

I agree. There were issues the whole evening particularly on the left side. You can tell left tackle is not Starr’s natural position but he did well. I think the games was confirmed concerns with the oline and corner spots.

I thought the same thing. Cox looked lost all game. Starr was underpowered and unathletic. But he had good awareness and at least knew what he was doing.

RE: Bower
The o-line really didn’t do him any favors last night, but he needs to work on not staring down his receivers. There were plenty of plays where he never even looked at a second option. Again, the o-line wasn’t giving him a lot of time so he made due with the time given. I’m going to try and be patient since he is learning a new offense just like the rest of the offense. The interception wasn’t on him, and I don’t recall him making any terrible throws. I look forward to watching him play this year.

How tall is Bowers? He had a lot of passes tipped.
Listed at 6'2". May have to blame the OL letting too much of a pass rush push.

Dang Bowers does throw a nice ball and has a good touch. Really all of his long throws were on the money. He had one dropped and the other misses were more a result of new o line play. The O line will gel

He's listed at 6'2 so a little taller than recent QBs.

Bowers doesn’t appear to be a runner. I don’t remember any running plays he made. I’m so used to Carey’s QB draws so as long as he can pass the ball accurately I’m happy.

Been a long long time the offensive line was in this state. You almost have to game plan for Utah to prevent injury. Bowers could be killed next Saturday. If he has time to throw he is a very solid QB. I would expect we see both QBs vs Utah

Agree with all comments regarding the Oline.
How will the new coach fix it.
The Oline ussually is very dependable.
What happenned.
Can it be fixed?
This will be a key test for the new coach.

Keeping the QB healthy should be the main priority.

If we cannot fix the Oline, then bench Bowers.
He is too good to lose against Utah.

Quick passes. Bowers was accurate on those as well.

There are very few coaches that would bench the QB because the opponent is too good. May as well raise a white flag before the game and the whole team would see that. How about we be Huskies and compete.

Anyone, anyplace we'll play!

RE: Bower
We have pretty good QB in my opinion, although it's just one game. He's just so different for us, a passer and not much of a runner.
Not sure UTAH is going to be any type of a game to judge him on(I think we'll get beat handily, if the hype w/Utah is anywhere close to real), but I bet we could beat Vandy with him.

Keep him healthy, he took some licks last night. He seems a smaller in muscle than we usually see at NIU, although he's tall enuf at 6 2.

Thing is, I fully expect us to need Marcus to do well for us for a few games, we don't often have the same QB healthy for every game.

Exactly. That is not something Hammock would consider!

Normally I'd agree with this, but this is SUCH a mismatch on paper with Utah D vs NIU O that I think one has to consider protecting players. NiU has not been overmatched on the line like this since I cannot remember when
