Touchdown Village
Brilliant idea. Was there tonight and the place was packed. Cheap beer, pizza, TVs, and canopy to hide under when it rained. I always thought that since the students always go to the bars after the tailgate that NIU needed to bring the bar to them in the stadium and that’s exactly what they did. Nothing like having dozens of Natty Lites and Naturdays. Some good arm wrestling competitions Between students and older guys. Should make that some sort of tradition.

Wasn't there but it looked great. It was packed and overflowing into the corner of the end zone.

My hope is they can expand the footprint of Touchdown village- it was packed, but seemed compressed in a relatively tight area. My guess is regulations prohibit spreading this area out across the entire width of field with more depth

Agreed. They need to improve on that fence. Build a more permanent structure as the white plastic picket fence looks amateurish. But the idea is cool. My big concern is when we're playing some feeble MAC foe, will the majority of the student section be in TV? That place holds a good number of people, hope that doesn't negatively impact an already sad picture of the student section.

Btw, a question? Who is allowed in TV? I presume you have to be 21 so that does eliminate a big portion of students who would probably love to go in there. Do they also allow regular folks and alumni?

Hopefully they have more pizza next time. Ran out in the 2nd quarter.

The sit down tables would be better replaced with a few stand up table tops to fit more people in the containers.

Overall great atmosphere in the area.

21 and up only, I believe. And they welcome students of legal age as well as alumni, the lady and I went to check it out in the 2nd half and it was really cool

Anyone is allowed. Just need a wrist band to buy beer. For anyone skeptical about getting students into the stands.....at least they are going into the stadium at TV. They seemed really into the game too. All the beer vendors were floored with how many cases of beer they went through. Pretty sure every one of us would wish we had this when we were students. As for food you have access to the east side concession as well.

Loved the touchdown village stayed there all night instead of my actual seat! How have we not done this sooner. Honestly the whole game experience was amazing. It was my first home game since 2015 homecoming.

If they can get a more “permanent” tent type with some red/black like the yordon has for the seats, it will look much more professional and allow for even better coverage for weather like yesterday. I’m sure they will eventually, but need to see how the response was for a couple games. Great idea though

Touchdown Village was packed and a great idea. Now that they have a game of it under their belt I’m sure they will be better stocked with pizza and beer.

Sounds great, anything to keep the students /alum/locals engaged with the program is great imo. Hopefully this idea sticks and becomes a tradition!

Had a blast at the TV and don't really plan on going back to the grandstands the rest of the season.

Touchdown Village
Sitting on the 40 yard line on the West side, I could hear the cheering in the TD Village. The crowd and cheering looked amazing!

This concept would be great if they ever do build a bowl in the south end zone Could be a standing area with vendors. Maybe some seating but would look better as a permanent structure.

Was thinking the same thing today. Add the bowl but with a smaller amount of bleachers, but with a huge concourse that resembled the idea of Touchdown village with bars/concessions and covered front the elements.

Right, we aren't an NFL franchise with money to throw around like they do
