Where we missed out today was getting our Tight Ends some looks. We went to Joey Magnifico only 1 time today. Granted it was an incomplete pass but 9 of 10 times Joey would haul in that catch.

With Brady being better at short passes it only makes sense to utilize the TE.

Gotta get White more 2 or 3 step drops with receivers over the middle.

But like I said before, it will get better with the bad AAC defenses.

Very pedestrian numbers, the only thing that sticks out is his completion percentage, which is greatly helped by the short passing. He is a very average qb and not someone you want to have the ball in his hands when the game is on the line. Hand it to your RBs and let them make plays.

My issues today (as well as many games last season) was the playcalling. The several pass plays on 3rd and 4th and short were baffling. Seems like when we run for the lead, all of a sudden we start passing the ball and teams come back on us.

I echo the play calling. I also think that the offense needs to be adjusted for White. All of our pass plays take too long (at least the passes downfield). With the combination of our talented receiving corps plus White’s apparent lack of arm strength, we need some 3 step drop passes. 3rd and 6 or 7 is always an adventure for us.

I been saying the same thing since last year. When he has a normal drop back he looks pretty good.

His issue today was due to the inexperience of the OL and the quality of the defensive front of Ole Miss. He just didn't have time to get the ball to a receiver. As the OL gels, he will have better results.

Did anyone notice whether he had receivers breaking open? Did they get separation?

Yes he missed a couple wide open dudes today. I remember one where number 5 was wide open and Brady just dumped it off to somebody for a short gain. He struggles under pressure.

We need more than a game manager to be great IMO. White has no arm strength and we have no deep threat which this offense desperately needs. Or if we do not have a QB with a good arm then we need a running threat.

White is what he is but IMO we need more to get over the proverbial jump.

Had several. in the 15 and over range. 3 of over 20 yards. Five of the 6 receivers who caught a pass caught one of over 10 yards.

That was frustrating as hell to me. But maybe it's the reality of what Norvell has been looking at in practice...a weak armed, immobile QB...an offensive line who can't pass block...a weak receiving corps....facing an SEC defense.

Also OUR defense. Who he thought could keep us in the game and possibly win it for us if we just played it safe on offense.

Still frustrating, but our passing game is way way worse than it's been the last several years for a variety of reasons.

Having said all that, as soon as we start facing garbage AAC defenses, we will all think our passing game is great.

We tried one of those screens on 4th and 1. Give it to Taylor.

O Line was a problem area.
Nowhere near as strong as they have been the last few years.

True

But Brady white had these same issues last year.

Yes he did. Had Pollard and Henderson to take the spotlight off his flaws. Another problem is the RPO. Brady is no run threat and the long developing plays is hurting him more than helping. Coach Norvell needs to tweak his offense around his weaknesses.

Excellent post, imo

Pretty weak arguments, blaming Brady is easy.
1- It's clear the OLine is a work in progress. OM capitalized on their weakness in the first half. They exploited the right side of our line and forced Brady to the left where he's clearly not at his strongest and throwing against his body. No, he's not the fleetest of foot but he's got to have time to execute.
2-Norvell was going to run the ball, it was clear that he was going in that direction. If you watched Brady, when he had time he was making all of his reads, and several times no receivers were open. Give OM a little credit, they weren't great but good enough at times to give our offense fits.
3-Brady owned up to his mistakes, he had some misses and an INT. Again, once he has time we'll see how effective he is.
4-Norvell was adjusting his offense to address OM weakness on defense against the run. He clearly was experimenting at times, sometimes it didn't work; but he won the game, so his game plan worked

RE: Is it time to turn to Connor Adair?
There was one play in particular that I would’ve liked to have seen us check off. It was in the 2nd quarter, I think the series that ended in TJ Carter catching the punt but the ball ending up a touchback. We had 1st and 10 from the 31. They had man coverage on Coxie (DB about 5 yards back) with no safety help ( their safeties were in the box for run support). I thought Brady should have checked off and taken a shot. We ended up going backwards and having to punt. Last year, UCF did basically the same thing and essentially dared us to pass the ball.

If you are a true tiger fan, of course we need to look at other options. No tiger fan wants to see Brady White struggle, but in a team sport opportunity for a special season are far to few. I don’t care how much we want the kid to do well, he is making us very vulnerable in to many situations. I watched a lot of qbs , some not fortunate to have the talent we have, continue to make plays. I’m a Memphis Tiger fan 1st, a Brady White fan yes, but a Tiger team fan first. The team deserves better

Deserves better than beating ole miss? Lol. Winning?

Ok Shirley

You think Brady White beat ole miss your a freakin moron! He barely did average enough to not lose it! Get real!!

Nah, I think you are the freakin' moron. Other than one bad decision on a throw to a RB that was illegally tackled on a screen, please name anything he did that would've cost us the game? Seeing that he threw for more yards than their whole team gained. On every one of the scoring drives, he had completions that kept drives alive.

It's not really what he does to hurt us, it's what he can't do that is the issue. He can't seem to escape the pass rush, or throw on the run if he somehow does. Riley was similar, but Riley had the ability to get rid of the ball with accuracy and had a great arm. Most agree BW has a limited arm and questionable accuracy. combine that with being slow footed. That's 3 important qualities you would like your QB to have.

We're all hoping for greatness this year(undefeated, new years bowl, etc.)I think for greatness, we need more from the QB. If BW is the best we got, then so be it. May need to lower expectations.

Anybody else watch the Georgia St. QB and wonder how good he could be in Norvell's system? Maybe just me. Kid is from Olive Branch, by the way.

I addressed most of this and agreed with pretty much all of your points in another post. I also said that White will pad his stats and look great once we face bad AAC defenses. He is a good pocket passer when he has time to throw...ie. when he faces bad defenses. He is what he is and he will never be great. He will never hold a candle to Paxton Lynch or Riley Ferguson.

Not really blaming him bud. No need to run RPO when Brady White is a pure pocket passer. He's not good at long developing plays. Same as last year. He looks good in a normal dropback situations.

Why attack the original post when it’s dead on...the question is there may not be no one else that’s better...he’s slow and has a weak arm but I’ve seen worse qb’s here over the years.

You guys do understand that the other quarterbacks are Tigers as well. We are not rooting against Memphis by wanting to see what others can do. Heck , I think we win by 20 today if Brady McBride plays, but he skipped town knowing he’d never get a chance!
