More than 170 television stations will start daily broadcasts with Star-Spangled Bann
Quote:Over 170 television stations will start playing the Star-Spangled Banner at the beginning of their daily broadcasts.
Nexstar Media Group announced on Thursday a partnership with Broadcast Music Inc. and Belmont University's Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business to air the national anthem, which will be performed by different emerging singers.
The singing of the anthem across Nexstar's 171 stations in 100 markets will begin on Labor Day, Sept. 2.
"This unique collaboration supports higher education in business for the music and entertainment industry, while providing aspiring professional artists and songwriters a national distribution platform to showcase their respective talents," Tim Busch, President of Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc., according to CBS 17. "We look forward to returning the time-honored tradition of including the National Anthem in our stations’ broadcasts with this new partnership.”
The first group to perform the anthem for its debut will be Brian Sutherland, Kirsten Kelly, and 2018 American Idol contestant Julia Cole.

50,000 Watts. Remember many a time listening to the Reds on WLW in Houston. You could get it in the days of analog dials. Lot tougher with digital. Even listened to Al Michaels' famous call of game 5 of the NLCS in '72 vs. the Pirates. "PENNANTS ON SECOND!!!! PENNANTS ON SECOND!!!!" "PENNANTS ON THIRD!!!! PENNANTS ON THIRD!!!!" For years, I could recite every pitch of the bottom of the ninth (Reds scored two runs in the 9th to win 3-2-it was a Bench HR to tie, Perez single-rookie George Foster pinch running, rookie Ken Griffey Sr. infield single, wild pitch, wild pitch).

When I was a kid my Dad took me to large lake in Tennessee where we stayed on a houseboat. 700 was clear as a bell for getting Reds games. Powel Crosley was largely responsible for creating modern radio broadcasts and mass production of radios.
