No mention of practice squad made in the article I saw. Will keep watching.

The next Steelers article I saw was Diontae Spencer, WR, being released and offered a practice team spot. Via steelersnow.com

He is a bright high character individual. I wish him the best as he begins the next chapter of his life.

Adding that I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to watch him play for the Huskies!

RE: Sutton Released
They gave him lots of pt the last two games. Didn’t produce much but I think he’d be a good fit on the practice squad. Hopefully someone else signs him to the active roster. Otherwise, he’ll be really good in the xfl this spring.

Who could have seen this coming? Should have stayed at NIU for his senior year. Oh well.

What would staying at NIU have done for him in the long run? I mean selfishly, yes, i would love to have had him play one more year. In terms of his pro prospect, not sure it would make a difference.

Unless he switched positions, which he wouldn’t have, it would have done him no good.

Agreed, buy he was way to productive at DE to move.

Pittsburgh is on the same level as Chicago when it comes to NIU players. They have a vendetta against them!

If he stayed at NIU he’d still be playing football right now

Yep....and then have about the same shot of making it in the pros a year from now than he does now.

I don’t think him staying would have changed his draft status or ability to make ateam. The guy lead the nation in sacks two years in a row, and won the Vern Smith award two years in a row and graduated a year early . Injuries will derail you every time. This will not be the last you hear from him. He can still be successful......

Wow, Sutton didn’t even get signed to the Steelers practice squad. I’m shocked, i thought they would at least give him time to develop there

RE: Sutton Released
Sutton could have had a monstrous senior year. Would it have improved his NFL stock? Who knows, but it certainly wouldn't have hurt it. I think it could have only helped him. Obviously there always exists the chance of injury which may have been on his mind, but he managed to stay pretty healthy even while playing aggressively so I think the chances would have been unlikely.

I'm sure if he could do it over again knowing what he knows now , he would come back. I dont think it was a bad decision for him though. His stock was not going to increase any more than it was at end of last season
