Sure wasn’t pretty but it’s a win. Road wins have been hard to come by.
Lots of work to be done though.

Yup. Nice win. ArkySt has a pretty good team and could potentially be the SB champ this year.

good win... we dont know how good arky state will be but they could end up winning the sunbelt..

niether the offense or defense looked spectacular..both looked passable thou....and if arky state ends up a 10 win team, in hindesight it could be a great performance

I think it will be hard for them to win the superbowl. New England looks good this year.

Solid effort by SMU on the road for an opener. Even though SMU was a 2.5 underdog, you had to think this is a game that SMU should win. Was a tough game and SMU made plenty of mistakes, but at the end of the day, we had better players that did just enough to win.

The game against North Texas will be big next week. UNT is picked to win their division in C-USA and, if you believe the hype, has one of the best QBs in the country in Mason Fine. Need to take care of business against the Mean Green, get our easy win against Texas State and go over to Ft. Worth and square off against the Toads at 3-0.

/cheers

North Texas scored 2 touchdowns in the first 2:30 minutes of our game last night. Even though we took our foot off the gas after that, Mason Fine still had about 300 yards and 4 TD's in the first half. Our offense is a beast, and if your defense isn't stellar, it is going to be a long night for SMU. I got my tickets yesterday. North Texas will bring a big crowd to Ford next week. I wouldn't count on SMU being 3-0 heading into your game with TCU.

Good job beating Abilene Christian. A real gritty win.

SMU impressed. Forget his number but that defensive end (maybe 35) is a beast. Receivers are very good, running backs run hard and QB is fantastic. I now see why Hicks transferred. He didn't want to be holding a clipboard his senior year. Secondary is sketchy and your new kicker is green, but that's about it. I think you take care of UNT at home. I know they beat you last year, and they have a little momentum but I think people hyped them a little too much last year.

Good luck with the rest of your season. I figure you guys go undefeated at home and may be able to pick up at least one more road win.

Yep, good game SMU folks. It was competitive all the way. One of these days we'll get a win over your guys.

Your transfer QB looked good and your overall team speed impressed me. Good luck going forward.

You call running a flea flicker in the middle of the second quarter "taking your foot off the gas"? Righhhhhhht.....

You guys will do well in the Sunbelt with that QB and those WRs.

Loved the water feature in the stadium BTW.

You should see the new facility that just opened a week ago. It’s phenomenal. As good as any in the G5.

Bayless is good but our best WR was concussed in the first quarter and couldn’t return. Our WR transfer from OU wasn’t ready to go either. Now that our QB has his first start under his belt and those two coming back soon I feel really good about the rest of the year.

Good win SMU. I saw lots of talent & speed - and effort. Have seen the talent & speed before but not the effort in the face of adversity.

Last year's team would have lost that and especially under Chad.

Arkansas State fans could not be nicer. Promise I heard "Thank you for coming" at least 20 times even after the game.

Congratulations on your win. Winning is always preferable regardless of the opponent but I, of course, believe Arkansas State, who's projected to win the SBC by some, is a better understanding of what type of team we have as opposed to ACU.

Believe me, after last year, everyone in Dallas is aware of Fine. Great QB. Receivers are fantastic, too. But the issue is not the offense, it's the defense, and if yours isn't stellar it will be a long night for you too - I don't expect us to keep dropping passes. We'll see if your Dline can get any push or if you LB's contribute much of anything - not sure either will happen. Meanwhile, we have some talent on the DLine and LB's, and solid safeties. It's the corners I'm worried about.

And by all means, please bring a large crowd.

I myself expect a high scoring game. Once the offenses get in tune I expect it could be a helluva show by both teams.

UNT 38
SMU 42
