FAU's Owls are getting clobbered in Columbus.

UPDATE: FAU outplayed Ohio State the final three quarters, as they upped their intensity and made adjustments, while the Buckeyes eased up and played more sloppy and lackluster. Ohio State still won, 45-21, but it wasn't as big a disaster for the Florida Owls as it appeared it would be in 1Q.

Northern Iowa will be playing late into December in the FCS playoffs. They took Iowa State to 3OT and could have won it with a late forced fumble. Instead, ISU managed to recover for first and goal and punched it in on the next play.

Kansas scraped by FCS Indiana State by a TD in Les Miles's Lawrence debut.

Boise State overcame a slow start to knock off Florida State in Tallahassee.

Georgia State beat Tennessee 38-30. The Sun Belt seems to have surpassed CUSA in quality in football over the past couple of seasons.

USM 28, Alcorn State 10 (4Q) - not impressed
Michigan 27, MTSU 10 (3Q) - decent effort so far

UTEP 20, HBU 17 (H) - wow part 2. HBU is picked to finish last in Southland

Michigan MTSU isn't as close as the score looks. Both of MTSU touchdowns came on Michigan fumbles that turned into short-field TDs. That said, MTSU's QB was pretty impressive, particularly with his feet. He's gotta be among the best dual threats in CUSA

UTEP looking to scrape past HBU in El Paso. Huskies just fumbled what may be their last possession. Miners trying to run out the last 6 minutes with a 2 point lead.

Edit: Miners pull it off with the help of defensive PI on a 3rd and long. Despite scares for ODU and UAB, the only C-USA team to lose to an FCS team this week is WKU.

And Auburn just scored the winning TD with under 10 seconds left against Oregon. Ducks had them dead to rights and didn't close the deal.

UTEP hangs on to defeat HBU 36-34.

All 8 CUSA wins in week 1 were at home. Only home loss was WKU to Central Ark.

Owls next 3 OOC opponents all won their week 1 games.

Baylor vs SFA and Texas vs LaTech don't exactly tell us much new about any of our opponents. Wake's shootout vs Utah State may bode well for us.

Wake's 401 yards of passing is concerning. Of course, I know nothing of Utah State's pass defense, but the Owl defense will clearly see a different challenge this Friday than last.
