Ouch. Sorry to hear that. Apathy is bad. You need excitement.

Green's stats are encouraging. FIU's sieve run defense opens the East division to you. Boise and Cincy will require your 'A' game though.

Many are dumber than dirt and can go suck on Shane Lyons balls if they want to. DON'T NEED THEM AND NEVER HAVE.

Marshall could easily win 56-0 without doing anything fancy or aggressive on offense or defense. VMI simply cannot compete with most FCS teams, never mind FBS. They are much worse than even the Citadel, for example. Not sure why.

VMI also plays @Army later in the season. Probably a massacre.

VMI has the smallest enrollment of any D1 school; 1700. They have rigorous academics and military training as well. I would imagine it is very difficult to recruit there.

Congratulations on the win!

Here is Stadium’s recap of last nights game.

I think we ended up with 260+ yards rushing and over 6 yards per attempt. The notable problems easily on were we didn’t convert some early short yardage conversions, as well as the lack of a highlight of a big run aside from King’s 30-something yard breakaway, which all probably contributed to the perception that we didn’t establish the run. IG had his career day, so I’m not necessarily pushing the panic button there yet.

No need to get that upset over what is noticeable. We’ve shed about a lot of attendance in the last few years. I have gone from season ticket holder to only selecting a couple games to go to. And I’m not doing anything with Lyons!

These next three games are going to define Doc’s career. If he doesn’t represent well here against Boise, Ohio, and Cincinnati, then it’s really time to consider the end of his tenure.

I would have expected Marshall to have more than 24k in attendance. I'm looking forward to the trip for the Cincinnati game.

Holiday weekend, students gone, playing a team we were favored by 40. Plus it was brutally hot.

Our area is depressed. People would rather go to the free needle exchange and buy drugs than attend a football game.

What’s your take?

Nothing too fancy today, but I did not see the significant improvement on offense I was hoping for/expecting. So, I am probably less enthusiastic for the season after this game. I consider this week’s game at Boise one of the most important games we’ve had in a long time. We need to play this like it’s a G5 playoff game.

The last time VMI had a winning record was a 6-3-1 season in 1981. And since the season ended on Nov 12, I had yet to even turn 10, that would happen in Dec 1981.

Ironically enough, many of us would point to the win over VMI in our last game in 1981 as, very arguably, the turning point game for the program. Marshall football would never be the same after that one.
