American Association
https://lrtrojans.com/news/2019/8/29/bas...agues.aspx

The two players pictured in this article play in the American Association, which is an independent minor league. I recently got to see the Lincoln Saltdogs from that league play while we were visiting my daughter and her family. These teams do not have any official relationship with the major league teams, and identify and sign their own players.

I write a weekly column for the Booneville Democrat, and have one coming up about our Saltdog game. The GM of the team was kind enough to give me a few minutes for an interview to visit about the nature of independent teams. They have a team salary cap of 125M, so the guys are playing for the love of the game, not the money. A few years back there was a kid from Lamar who had signed with an independent team out west somewhere. A player from UAFS recently signed with the Milkmen, so he may be a teammate of Riley Pittman.
