Football season is here! I'm stuck in New Orleans, so someone eat a stadium dog in my honor since i'll be stuck watching the game on my laptop.

I don't think we will cover the spread (we are 40 point favorites last time I checked) because we have so many new starters they are going to need time to gel.

I don't think we need to panic if the game IS closer than some are expecting for the same reason.

In either case I cant wait for kickoff and for Smaug's $.02 tomorrow.

Wonder if we will have at least 50 of our 4000 freshman run in that great new tradition of the freshman run at the first home game.

No reason to overbuild up expectations of crowd size.

With that said, 27000 for Savannah State who brought nobody should certainly be surpassed.

We are doing a freshman run? That is so cool. Baylor does that and it is lot of fun. My daughter fell during her first freshman run... ended up in the urgent care (after the game).

Am I the only one that thinks the freshmen run out and the Blazer Spellout the band does, is cheesy? Can’t have a thread w/o someone being an @ss. Sorry.

freshman runout, its a once a year thing so whatever. I feel as if a LOT of what the band/cheer teams do is cheesy. In your example of the spell-out. Lose the music, shout it out to the cadence of J-E-T-S-JETS!-JETS!-JETS! and I feel it would be a lot better.

I saw a reply on the Facebook post from UAB Football, from Alan Willis's mother, saying she knew who one of them was. So I suspect the good Dr. Willis will be one.

Related to that, I now know where Altoona is.
