the thread on the CUSA board on this article is hilarious. I think those guys genuinely think they are as good of a conference as the AAC.

When we played North Texas in the bowl game a few years ago they legit though CUSA was worlds ahead of the Sun Belt. When I posted stats, they argued Troy's stats were inflated because we played "much weaker teams" in the Sun Belt.
We walloped them pretty hard and the guys over there on gomeangreen.com were outraged. It was "unacceptable" to lose to a Sun Belt team, despite the fact that we beat a ranked LSU earlier in the year. The amount of brain fog from CUSA fans that prevents them seeing the Sun Belt as anything but trash is thick. If anybody remembers those old cartoons where they cut through the fog with a hacksaw, it's like that.

"The only programs you could reasonably say haven't lived up are UTSA and Charlotte. But Charlotte seems to be on the rise and San Antonio is a pretty large market."
The market talk...continues....

Don’t think we needed ESPN to tell us this. Not a problem if CUSA stealing the wrong teams, GaSo and App St weren’t in the SBC to be stolen. They went with UNCC and ODU instead.

To be fair, UNT fans were like that when they were in the Sun Belt

Not our fault that when they won the league in football that they spent slightly more than $0 upgrading football facilities or coaches salaries.
Not our fault that they did nothing to capitalize on getting auto bid to the NCAA tournament. Immature people blame others for their mistakes.

North Texas has always had some issues with seeing the forest through the trees. Feels like every time they had a legit chance to really make a mark they'd figure out some way to blow it.
They didn't do a darn thing to improve when they dominated the Sun Belt back in the first part of the 2000's. Thought the way they'd fix everything was to hire some High School Coach whose son was a uber talented QB. When that experience failed miserably, they then built a brand new stadium, only to stink to high heaven the first few years there.
Admittedly, they've improved quite a bit lately, and seem to have a much better administration, but I think some of that goes back to the overall quality in CUSA coming down quite a bit the last few years.
By the way, if you want an example of what not to do when you have a winning program, look at what has happened to Western since Brohm ran off to Purdue...
