Memphis is a basketball town. It brings us together. It is stronger than all the hate and derision combined...

Football is just a dream some of y'all have.

That being said, I like the looks of it for teevee

RE: Now what?
I don't know who John Varlas is and why his opinion should matter. I assume he is a well meaning fellow but this kind of whining never caused one person to attend a game .

Actual Attendance has increased 50% on average over the last 10 years, Other schools have seen decreases over that time on average. There is 10x more blue on gamedays and double the anticipation of 10 years ago.

Our Stadium is TOO BIG for our program. Tarps should have been used for the last 30 years. It is what it is. we should be selling ads on tarps. How many people do you know that say ----ill pick up a cheap ticket at the last minute?

Some of this has to do with the BTiger Rebels being down too. They didn't buy as many tickets as the last time we played.

Varlas is a good guy. He's been doing high school sports for the CA and now the DM for a long-time. He's definitely old school though.

RE: Now what?
There's an assortment of reasons/excuses (hot weather, Ole Miss being down, week 1 of football, Labor Day weekend, 11AM game, etc.) playing a part, but it does suck. Hopefully we can get over 50K

more to the point...Varlas has covered high school sports for the CA and I guess now the DM for most of his career.

RE: Now what?
The tarp is there most every game.

In 2015, we removed the tarp because ticket sales going into this week were very strong. ole miss didn't even sell 1/3rd of their tickets. It's not like the stadium will be empty. Instead of 58k being a sell out, it's now 52k.

People acting like this is a game changer are off their rockers.

I'm coming from CO for the game. No reason any fans who live in Memphis shouldn't go. The heat is not an excuse. I fully expect a mild heat stroke but I'll be there.

With that said, I don't mind the tarps. Those seats stink anyway. And it does look good on tv.

The only disagreement I have is that those seats stink. Even on the first row, which I have been for more than one game, the seats aren't terrible. I don't think there are bad seats anywhere in the LB.... well, other than having to sit surrounded by ole miss fans.

Smaller stadiums with more experiences are the future.

I still like the plan that former interim president of the University of Memphis & Saks CEO Brad Martin wanted the University of Memphis to buy Audubon Park & build a On-Campus Stadium there.

It was the perfect location as well.

Will the University of Memphis take over Audubon park?

The Baylor example of McClane Stadium in Waco TX is a great example of what would work here.

yep, family fun zone packs on the opposite end (when they still had those) was the best deal going.

RE: Now what?
this problem is all over.
Missouri is moving their 2020 home game against Arkansas to Arrowhead stadium...due to lack of HOME attendance.

The old "fans don't do their part" argument again... yipee.

If you want to go to the game, go. It will be fun.

If you want to stay home and watch the game on TV, stay home.

Why does everyone have to drop their drawers and measure their fandom against one another? We all support the same team.

Correct. I think 40k is probably the max we will ever draw for home games that don't involve Ole Miss, Tennessee, Mississippi State, or Arkansas...and even then the product on the field has to be consistent with what it's been the past 5 years or so. If the product slips, attendance will go back to the 20k range of recent memory.

If you buy a $15 antenna and take 5 minutes to put it on you can watch it.
