The way I read a recent article in local
Press, the Athletic Dept was less than 50k from balancing the budget last year. That’s just one more money game for MBB. Why not? The ballers would be the heroes!! They might get more spiffs in the future!

RE: Tribe Athletics Strategic Plan
I like the timeline feature but noticed one inaccuracy. The Zable Stadium name took place in 1990, not 1993. Maybe some posters on here can tell us if there are any other inaccuracies from the late 1800's/early 1900's (TIC).

Also not sure why Dane Fischer being named coach and is called out on the timeline in 2019 unless they needed something for this year. No other coach hirings are mentioned except London (but I get why that one was mentioned due to historical significance). Kinda weird.

$50K you say? Wasn't that exactly the same amount that each conference school was supposed to get from Flosports --- but everybody was quick to say that $50K was just a drop in the ocean for the athletic budget and just let the CAA funnel it somewhere else?

Agreed. And still needs a little QC but overall pretty good.

For example, if you want to look at stats on former WM players in the NFL it takes you here:

Roster viewing options are separated by grid, list, and cards. Only one format offers a player's bio, stories, etc. SIDs has worked on this for some time. I like it, but still needs tweaking.

I've mostly gone to tribeathletics.com in the past from a computer, where formatting is easy. For those who are more phone-centric, how does it look there?

The site is cleaner but, like I wrote, roster viewing options range from very basic (name, measurables, hometown) to detailed (bio, media links).

I like it.

The track and the turf on Zable field is being replaced this month.
Can we afford those expenses with the projected revenue losses to the athletics dept?
The cost is probably a couple million.
Maybe the contractors are giving us a really good deal due to the business environment right now.

Pretty sure those contracts were signed and money spent well before anybody near Williamsburg had ever heard the words Covid 19.

Many contracts have force majeure clauses. Maybe the athletics dept could use the threat of rescission based on the COVID-19 shutdown to get a better deal.

While not an expert, some of these things could also be a safety concern, like you need to replace the turf every X years to keep it within a certain compliance.

Lengthy rundown on Delaware athletic budget at link. Doesn't appear transparency is a strong suit in Newark.

I'm not at optimistic there will be a college football season, at least as we no it if at all, but I am taking heart that the athletic program may not drop any sports and appears in decent health.

Don't know if those on the board have been closely tracking our recruiting for this fall, but it has been terriufic almost across the board: in addition to the full slate of football & men/womens basketball scholarships we have at least twelve in the two soccer teams, seventeen coming in to the track & field programs, seven to field hockey, five in the two gymnastics squads, a dozen or so in the swimming teams, five in volleyball, and seven in baseball (plus possibly two more from this spring's aborted season who may play while in graduate school.

And if you've really delved into the quality, it is there!

So take heart...while football may be dubious, the future appears set.

If only we could monetize our traffic on Recruit threads. Great time to acknowledge 08s detailed work on MBB recruiting. Thank you, sir (or ma'am) for all you do.

Actually, my original shout-out was referring to both you (mrjoolius) and '08. Ribbing (and thanks) go to you both.
