I doubt it. Different audience. If the football game doesn't make the top 10 it will be because UM lost last week.

RE: 2019 College Football TV ratings top 10
last years World Series was largely unopposed by college football (Texas/Oklahoma St only drew 3.5 million).

It's been a while since we've had this good of a game up against the World Series....
2018 Texas/Oklahoma St 3.486
2017 Ga Tech/Clemson or Texas Tech/Oklahoma 3.464
2016 Clemson/Florida St 5.38
2015 Ohio St/Rutgers 5.29
2014 Ohio St/Penn St 4.67
2013 Penn St/Ohio St 4.06
2012 Notre Dame/Oklahoma 8.2

So Notre Dame/Michigan the best game going up against the World Series since 2012.

3 games in the ratings this week- led by Auburn/LSU.

The ND/Michigan game as bad as it was still got in the top 10- barely.

ESPN/ABC chose well by picking ND-Mich in advance. Really good audience size considering both that the game wasn't close and that it was on at the same time as a World Series game.

yep....

saw Big Fox pregame show did well on Saturday.. Will be interesting to see if that holds this week with a dog of a noon game quite frankly.

lets look-
WVU/Oklahoma- down 50%
Baylor/Oklahoma St- down 30%

Iowa St/Texas Tech on FS1- down 51%

yikes. This weekend will be good with Ohio St/Wisconsin(though with the Wisconsin loss, not quite as good), but then next weekend is Maryland/Michigan.

Ohio St.-Wisconsin
Auburn-LSU
Notre Dame-Michigan

All 3 have a shot at the top 10. Ohio ST.-Nebraska will definitely get pushed out.

Oklahoma will be pushed at KSU and Penn St. will be pushed at Mich. St. Lots of good games. Alabama, Clemson, Georgia (off) and Florida (off) have easy weeks among the top 10.

Michigan is consistently a very big draw, despite not having done much in recent years. That blowout making the top 10 just shows how big a draw both ND and Michigan are. And with World Series and other solid games as competition.

saw the Georgia/Florida game got a 4.5 rating. Should translate into about 7.7+ million viewers when final numbers come out.

Georgia-Florida was the only game last week with enough viewers to make the year-to-date top ten. Big dropoff after that one.

https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/college...v-ratings/

UGa-UF 6.98 million viewers
Ore-USC 3.43 million
Mich-Md 3.10 million
VT-ND 2.95 million
SMU-Mem 2.95 million
Neb-Pur 2.70 million

That will mean every game in the top 10 (and 14 of the 20 teams) includes one of Georgia, Notre Dame, Texas, LSU, Auburn, Michigan or Ohio St. Each of those appears twice in the top 10. LSU should get a 3rd appearance this week with the Alabama game.

CBS says Alabama- LSU drew a 9.7 rating and 16.6 million viewers, making it the highest rated and second most-watched regular season game in 8 years, since the 2011 Alabama-LSU game, which was played at night.

The game peaked at 20.6 million viewers.

wow. Being a close game and little competition up vs it- easy pickings...

I use the regular national numbers and not fast national numbers...

Will note 1 thing- 2nd most watched in 8 years doesn't include conference championship games. Which are a part of the regular season IMO....

Will be interesting to see how Ohio St/Michigan compares.

This LSU-Alabama game had more viewers than any CCG in the last several years with the possible exceptions of the 2018 SEC CCG (which had 17.5 million viewers) and the 2012 SEC CCG (which had 16.2 million viewers).

The article i linked addresses CCGs. It is the 3rd highest rated game since 2011, including CCGs.

FWIW, i don't regard CCGs as regular season. Regular season is games everyone plays.

Do CCG's impact the playoffs? Yes. Then they are the regular season. Period.

No, for the reason i stated, a CCG is conceptually a post-season game.

No, for the reason i stated, a CCG is conceptually a post-season game.

Playoff games are selected after ALL regular season games are completed. Thus, CCG is totally a regular season game.

CCGs are absolutely postseason games. The regular season consists of games scheduled before the season (with the exception of a few makeup games), whereas who plays in the CCG is contingent upon the results of the regular season.

CCGs are post-season games but neither regular- nor playoff-games. Everyone happy?
