Updated with last weeks action- 2 top 10 games.....

this weekend-
noon has Oklahoma/Texas on Fox. Can Fox get into the top 10?
330 has Alabama/Texas A&M
at night you have USC/Notre Dame on NBC, Penn St/Iowa on ABC, and Florida/LSU on ESPN.

Florida-LSU should get the most viewers in east coast primetime but might not get enough to be a top 10 game given the competition in the same window.

OU-UT likely gets the most viewers for the week, even though ABC/ESPN has Michigan-Illinois and South Carolina-Georgia up against it.

I think Florida/LSU will win the week.

Last year's Texas/Oklahoma only drew 5.60 million. Went up only against Alabama/Arkansas and Maryland/Michigan. And more buzz last year going into the game I think.

Possible, but that game is on ESPN, and a game on ESPN has only won the week twice over the past five regular seasons (not counting week zero).

The only thing that matters is the game quality. It's by far the best matchup of the week. Alabama/Auburn in 2014 was on ESPN and was the #1 game of the season.

Not "by far". Texas vs Oklahoma is close in quality, and should be an exciting game as well.

BTW, I wonder how these rating services handle people like me? At night, I will be watching all three games - LSU/Florida on my 62" TV, Notre Dame/USC right next to it on a 40" screen, and Penn State/Iowa on my 15" laptop next to them.

With games being viewable on many devices these days, I suspect many people are doing the same.

Other than the ccgs, there aren't likely to be many games later in the season that top the ratings list. That has been the history in recent years. In the early season, many teams have a shot at being in the playoffs. Later in the season, there are few "elimination" games.

well last year- only Ohio St/Penn St and Ohio St/TCU- were in the top 10 and played outside November/December. 2017 had all but 3 played 10/28 or later.

RE: 2019 College Football TV ratings top 10
There are several November games this year that have an excellent chance of being among the top 10 for the regular season, not counting CCGs. Most likely they won't all make it, but all have a chance.

It's possible none of them will be night games. CBS can't air another SEC night game this season unless they make a side deal with ESPN, and ESPN won't get any of those SEC games unless CBS either passes one up (unlikely) or hits the limit on the number of times one team can be in a CBS game (possible). Ohio State-Michigan will be a noon ET start as always. Penn State-Ohio State, because it's a November Big Ten game, can only be moved to night if the teams agree.

LSU-Alabama, Nov. 9
Georgia-Auburn, Nov. 16
Penn State-Ohio State, Nov. 23
Ohio State-Michigan, Nov. 30
Alabama-Auburn, Nov. 30

Very interesting with LSU/Alabama. Would be first time since 2011 that it's not a night game.

Would also add to the list of possible huge rated games the Georgia/Florida game on Nov 2. If Florida upsets LSU- that will be 2 top 5 teams playing each other with the division crown on the line. And would also add Oct 26 has Ohio St/Wisconsin on it which will be large as well.

In 2011, LSU/Alabama was a night game.

CBS has already aired their one contract-allotted prime time SEC game, so they did some horse-trading with ESPN to get this game moved from 2:30 to 7 PM.

The Big12 is a steady third place annually when you even out the appearances per member school. The raw averages have more of their weak games being “nationally rated” than other leagues which tanks the raw averages.

As for that game it’s much more about a top 5 team getting a solo window on Labor Day Sunday.

yeah that's where Texas/ND got over 10 million viewers a few years ago on Labor Day Sunday night.

The opinions in the southeast do not reflect the whole country. 5 vs. 11 compared to 6 vs 7 says you're wrong. Both very good matchups.

Perhaps a Top 10 listing of Noon contests, the Top 10 for 3:30 tilts, as well as a Top 10 for 7PM, 7:30PM and 8PM starts. That would be an apples to apples comparison of viewers true interest in a contest from week to week. Just a suggestion

Would be interesting, though competition in that time slot also has to be taken into account. For example, there are often 2 and sometimes 3 attractive games in east coast prime time (this week there are 3), while in contrast, ESPN/ABC and Fox rarely if ever put their best game of the week on at the same time as the afternoon SEC on CBS game.

For example, there are often 2 and sometimes 3 attractive games in east coast prime time (this week there are 3), while in contrast, ESPN/ABC and Fox rarely if ever put their best game of the week on at the same time as the afternoon SEC on CBS game.

That’s a good point about competition at air times.

Quick question: As a former Orange County resident I was surprised how much I enjoyed PAC football when I lived there because you simply don’t hear about the PAC here in the East. I loved the Stanford SC games. Those games were as big as any here in the East.

Being back in the East I can see the bias that exists. Do you think a bias exists?

You mean, among sports media who report on college football? Not everyone, but there are a lot of writers and people on TV who definitely have their favorites, and there are not many "national" college football writers or TV types who have a Pac-12 connection. Can't think of any such writers off the top of my head. Fowler, Huard, Neuheisel, and Klatt are on TV, plus a few others who are almost always assigned to the late Pac-12 games.

How about that UH-OU game still in the top 10. I t probably won't hold, but still shows how the Big 12-2, and UH, still counts in viewership.

UH?

03-lmfao

UH still has some residual name recognition from SWC days combined with their recent successes.
