RE: 2019 College Football TV ratings top 10
well needless to say I think this Georgia/Notre Dame game will easily be #1 for the season now IMO...

The blowout of the Wisconsin/Michigan game will hurt Fox's rating.

The really interesting one will be just how good the Auburn/Texas A&M game rating is. Very competitive game.

You don’t think Oklahoma St-Texas will take enough viewers away to not make it #1? Just asking.

and right now, Georgia is up 13. It was Georgia -14 for the pointspread.. So folks are gonna stick around.

I saw the Wisconsin/Michigan game got a 3.5 overnight rating. That's 0.1 better than Army/Michigan got. So figure somewhere near the 4.72 million that game got.

Notre Dame/Georgia got a 6.2 overnight rating. Thats 0.4 better than LSU/Texas. That should get over 9 million.

no the question IMO is outside of a game like Ohio St/Michigan- what is the upper limit for a noon kickoff?

oh and saw this- from 11-noon
College GameDay 1.8 Big Noon Kickoff 0.7
week 3 GD 1.6 BNK 0.7
week 2 GD 1.7 BNK 0.7

I don't remember seeing a regular season game hyped as much as the UGA-ND game.

I'd say 2 years ago that Florida St/Alabama game to start the season.

East coast prime time is the place to be for the biggest audiences.

Goes back to the question about what concessions CBS would have to make to get ESPN to permit more CBS SEC games in prime time. I'll suggest a possible concession: For every additional game that CBS gets in prime time, ESPN gets a different week where they get the first SEC choice and that game is on ABC. Example: If CBS puts LSU-Alabama in prime time, then Alabama-Auburn is in prime time on ABC.

ND has had two (at Louisville, at Georgia) of its three games so far this year in prime time.

Might get 2-3 more prime time games. Got USC for sure. Michigan is very possible. Stanford as well....

Don't know though that prime time dominates. That 3:30 pm SEC slot is plenty juicy. SEC has 4 games coming up- with 3 of them going to be at 3:30- Auburn/LSU, Georgia/Auburn, and Alabama/Auburn. All 3 should get huge numbers...

RE: 2019 College Football TV ratings top 10
so saw somewhat surprisingly that the Ohio St/Nebraska game got a 3.9 rating. That should be somewhere near 6 million viewers and a place in the top 10 right now.

In addition the Clemson/UNC game got a 3.1 rating. That's the same as Michigan/Wisconsin the prior week. So it could get on the top 10 as well- will be really close.

If Clemson/UNC does get on- it would mean not a single Fox noon kickoff would be on the top 10 a month into the season.

This weekend you figure 2 games should easily make the top 10. Auburn plays at Florida on CBS and then at night you get Michigan St playing at Ohio St. Actually this weekend is a good battle- you have Iowa/Michigan at noon on Fox and then the Michigan St/Ohio St game at night. ABC has Oklahoma/Kansas going up against it at noon. Fox Has Cal/Oregon going up against it at night.

Not surprising to me. Last season, every Ohio State game was ratings gold, no matter who they were playing.

I thought with the way it was a total blowout that it would supress things quite a bit.

Alabama and Ohio St. dominated the ratings. Now Ohio St.-Miami Redhawks isn't going to be that great. But any P5 foe.

So final number was 6.14 million for Ohio St/Nebraska. Good for #5 right now, but won't be on the list end of the season. In fact after September, only 2 games have drawn over 7 million- typically a minimum requirement to be top 10. Last years #10 was 7.23 million. 2017 was 7.41 for #10.

ESPN did a great job of hyping the game. They had Game Day there, and there was talk that Nebraska had "turned the corner" under Frost (even though there's scant evidence of that). They also emphasized that last year's game in Columbus was close. Combine that with the frenzy of the Big Red crowd at GameDay and it all added up to making the viewer think this was a real big-time matchup that could go either way.

Of course, anyone with a brain saw this blowout happening from a mile away. But the ESPN hype drew a lot of viewers.

ESPN typically does a great job hyping their biggest CFB games. Fox fails at that, and it's the biggest reason why their audiences are half the size of ABC/ESPN audiences for comparable games.
