But I'd also like to point out Trump is the only candidate in the 2020 Presidential election field that is self-financing. Because we all know how important not taking outside money is to Democrats on the campaign trail, right?

Well I mean they did fund raise with "ex compatriots" in Mexico the other day.. Meaning the Dems..

I thought this was going to be another Bill Clinton Allegation

While I understand the concerns, it's not really that different to me than Crawford or 'The Western White House' other than that the President happens to be involved in Real estate

What I mean is, it's vastly easier and thus safer for the secret service to secure one location, over and over again, than to secure multiple venues... especially if they have special access. It's not as if other Presidents or their spouses and even children don't get book deals and speaking engagements and attention worth millions as a direct result of being (or being close to the) President. How about Billy Beer?

If other Presidents had lives beyond the public teet prior to being elected as was the original intent, it seems self-evident that they would gain notoriety and thus value as a result of being elected. Trump is fairly unique in this regard in any of our lifetimes.

No, haters will hate regardless. IMO, just have the meeting in NYC.

If you can't see that this is inappropriate, REGARDLESS of who the president is or what party he is from, your judgement must sincerely be questioned. Sorry.

It's not the best place to have it. Regardless, it's not like it was a realistic possibility anyway.

I don't have a problem whatsoever with them having it at this location as it seems to have all the necessities. The problem is that trump owns it and would most likely benefit from it in some way.

I can see your point; however, I don't think it was a realistic option in the first place and was just another instance of Trump talking off the cuff and then the media taking it as gospel.

How? He can't take profit from any of his ventures while in office, he's currently working for free, I'm curious how he's benefiting from it?

This is the official White House twitter account:

I don't think he was speaking off the cuff, I think he seriously wants to host the G7 at Doral next year.

Also, does anyone know who gets to decide the locations/venues? Does Trump have the sole decision making power? If he's dead set on having it there, what's stopping him?

Can't see the twitter link. I'm sure he wants a lot of things that aren't a possibility politcally. Not sure who has ultimate say in a location though.

Try a page refresh. But anyway, the tweet from the official White House account says that trump shares the location of the next G7! But I see your point. This administration is horrific at communicating everything and anything.

Yes. Taking him literally.

Obviously if he seriously pushed it, it would be a conflict. But it does take 7 votes.

The area around Doral kind of looks like it would be really easy to secure.

not for a meeting of the 7 biggest leaders in the world. Plus, its right by MIA and I bet there is a large no fly zone for these events.

Mara lago is one mile from Palm Beach International, and they secure that location for the leader of the planet. The fact that other smaller leaders would be there would be of no consequence to how they secure the place. I mean, they aint securing the place better just because Macron and his mom show up.

That’s the problem with Leftists. Common sense goes right out the window when it comes to our President. Their unbridled hate for him makes it difficult for them to think.

I think you mean even more difficult.
