Am I the only one that is less than enthralled by the human interest story of Auburn's true freshman QB?

I look at him and see a spoiled little sh!t that's had a silver spoon in his mouth his whole life. How many kids out there are as good or better than this guy but never got a look because they have the wrong last name?

What? Silver spoon. His Dad has coached at Henderson St., Jacksonville St., Samford,
FT, Miami, Charleston Southern, then head coach at 2 high schools. That much moving around is like a military family.

Bo Nix had offers from almost all of the SEC, Clemson, ND, Cincy, etc. #3 rated recruit in Alabama. Coaches play players to win. That was a big win for Auburn.

He got it done on that last drive. That was a heck of game. All Nike's dollars still couldn't get a big win.

Yes... Silver spoon. He's Auburn royalty.

Jimmy Clawson also had offers from everyone too.

His Dad is a HS head coach for the past 6 years. What is wrong with that? Grand Dad was a high school coach that notched 300 wins. Do you think that the sons of high school coaches should be barred from playing in college? Sensing some sort strange bias you have.

What you call bias, I call suspicion.

For every Ken Griffey Jr., there's 1000 Pete Rose Jr's.

I just tend to root for the guy that doesn't have the red carpet thrown out for them their entire life. And trust me, a kid who's dad won an iron bowl game will get treated pretty good around the auburn community.

I just don't find it to be that compelling of a story. And yeah, there's probably some guy playing at a smaller school that through the next four years will rise up and show that he's better than Bo Nix and would have went to Auburn had they recruited him.

What are you suspicious of? His recruiting ranking?
Giving recruits the red carpet treatment is what recruiters are supposed to do.
Why would the Auburn not treat him or his Dad well. I would hope UC would do the same with former players. This would be normal and logical. There are probably a number of QBs at "smaller" schools who are or will be better than Nix, so what.
He likely worked his rear end of in HS, accepted the mentoring from his Dad, and then worked and prepared hard at Auburn.

If the kid couldn't play he wouldn't be named the starter and beat Oregon. Bo Nix dreamed of playing at Auburn when he was a kid and here he is with the opportunity. I say he took full advantage. Give me a kid that dreams of playing for Cincinnati with the talent to boot...

RE: College Football Week 1
Saw the tweet below earlier. Last night Pitt lost to UVA, who was favored, so i don't know if it was that bad of a loss; however, i didn't watch the game and it could very well be the fact that they were "underperforming." in the time i've followed CFB, Pitt has largely been mediocre, with few exceptions. That said, i find it interesting, in the era of "p5" that they have really failed to capitalize on the increasing chasm between those in the cartel 5 and the rest. Being in the ACC and in a good football state should provide a lot of advantages that seem squandered by them. Of course, i don't want to leave out coaching, with our experience going from Tommy to Coach Fickell. Perhaps it takes the right leader to unlock whatever potential Pitt possesses. Although i won't shed a tear if they remain in the doldrums.

Dave Wannstedt could recruit but moustache could not coach.

It isn't easy maintaining a program that consistently wins 8-10 games a year. I don't think they have any advantages over other ACC teams, and they should not torn down their stadium.

I think you can say some similar things about Syracuse not taking advantage of P5 opportunities. Granted, they had their best season in the ACC last year but overall they have stunk since joining the league. Throw in Buttgers in the B1G as another team that has stunk since jumping to greener pastures. I'm sure they don't care though when the $55 million dollar check gets cashed. I sure wish to heck to know how our Cats would be doing in the ACC...

Syracuse is top 25 this year, might even slip into the top 20 next week. Exactly how good do you expect them to be?

We should start to get a good idea of what to expect from Houston tonight against Oklahoma on national tv.

Notice I said the exception was this past season? They've won about 4 games on average in previous seasons.

Sure, i can agree that it isn't "easy" but they play at least one and sometimes up to three cupcakes. The ACC, Clemson aside, has not been the strongest of conferences either (although Pitt is most definitely a contributor to rather than a beneficiary of that trend). There is a school of thought out there that they are woefully underachieving all things considered and i tend to agree with that sentiment.
