So in one week we lost 5 players who likely would've seen the field for an extended period of time? *******...if there's one positive, at least Chuck still has his redshirt.

Yeah feeling the same way at the moment.

Yep. Reading the news earlier about UCLA losing one or two linebackers for Thursday night's game made me realize how easily a player can be plucked out of the lineup for a game or a season. Both these guys are really valuable and this hurts.

I'm far from the camp that guarantees a win for the 'Cats, but even with these injuries I still like our chances in Nippert. It would be a great win for the program but a deflating loss for the 2019 campaign and it doesn't go our way.

We haven't really lost 5 guys that would see an extended period of time. Wiggins yes, but not sure if he will be out more than one week. Heck he missed half of the bowl game as well. Bush, likely back later within the month. CM certainly would get touches but likely less with Doaks back. Thomas even less which is i guess is his issue. Woodside and Bacevich unless someone was hearing something different were not likely to get a lot of time from what i've heard. It's football. Everybody has injuries. Good news is we have as much depth as we've probably ever had. My bigger concern unless Wiggins injury is a season ending deal is Doaks staying healthy. See what Montgomery brings! He may surprise some folks.

Agreed. Keep in mind for every guy that goes down it creates another opportunity for someone else to step up to the plate. Last year we lost Gerrid Doaks prior to the season which opened the door for Mike Warren to put up the 3rd most yards by a Bearcat RB in a season and the most rushing TDs.

And for those keeping track Bush's injury happened several weeks ago, not just this past week. He will likely not miss all or even more than half of the season.

I love CM, but i think outside of the first lopsided win he carried the ball maybe 5 or 6 times a game and probably didn't have a catch a game. It's replaceable. Feel bad for him, but i'm confident he'll come back better than he was and with another yr of eligibility in what is a crowded backfield. Wiggins is a leader. If he's done for the year, that's one that is tough. However, KM is a pretty solid option compared to where it would put most teams. Fickell has been open about how much the true new guys in the db have shown. It's showtime.

Granted it was a great play call I clearly remember his speed against VT for “one play” that is.

He ran to the left side of the field for a fake flare caught the ball immediately as he cut to the middle and his speed toasted the whole D.

I was excited to see him getting more plays this year where he gets the ball with open field and see what he can do. Like others have said it’s just another dimension out of the backfield.

Good guesses! His actual stats in the last 9 games: 47 carries for 364 yards, and 8 receptions for 102 yards. That's 5.2 carries and 0.88 receptions per game.

55 of those rushing yards were 1 TD run against ECU which put us up 28-0 in the 2nd quarter.

He also returned 7 kickoffs for 93 yards, including 4 times for 70 yards against UCF.

Ok, I'm just befuddled and deflated. Unreal how much has transpired with this team in the past 24 hours. Sorry guys, my optimistic tank is running low. I need to step back from the ledge...

We still don't know what the injury is to Wiggins, but outside of that our roster remains mostly the same as it was 24 hours ago.Wiggins is a big loss, but everything pointed to McDonald playing like a starter during camp.

We still have a very solid team without Wiggins.

RE: What Do You Most Want To See Thursday Night?
My biggest concern about Metz is not his ability to do the job. He's about as athletic and big as you get in a fball guy. I think Wiggins was the one who earlier in the year in spring practice said i just know to stay away from him which coming from a defender says quite a bit. I'm curious to see how well he adjusts to real game speed and not committing penalties like holding. Probably a learning curve, but it's his time. Kid's an nfl level athlete with more experience. Can't blink on these foreign guys. I trust in Fickell. James Smith is likely headed to the nfl as well.

What the hell happened to Wiggins? How do you lose two of your best players to season-ending injuries two days before the opener. Did Fickell have these guys scrimmaging this week? One would think that after four weeks of practice that the contact drills would be over, the two-deep established, and injuries like this would take place only during games against real opponents, and not against one's own teammates.

He definitely added another look, but i think both Montgomery and Tucker have enough speed to more than give us the "shake and bake" to offset Doaks and Warren. The other thing that has come out of practice is that both Doaks and Warren seem noticeabley quicker given weight reduction and added strength and breaks. I just hope for Doaks sake he can put a full year together. He's had tough luck and has shown some real promise at times.

Wiggins is not supposed to be out for the year. based on preliminary reports. Just CM. CM hurt his knee in non contact running. Didn't say on Wiggins, but i saw in another board post it was also non contact.

I can't speak for the Wiggins situation but Coach Fick said in his presser that CM's injury was non-contact.

1) A win
2) No injuries on either team

If I can get only one of those, I'll go with #2.

I'ld like to see some long over-the-top 50% passes from Ridder caught by
tall Bearcat receivers like Alec Pierce, Lenny Taylor, Geddis, Mbodj, Huber.
Three of UCLA's starting DBs are 5-10, and Darnay Holmes, their best CB may not play.

QB Ben Bryant play a quarter and complete passes to Blue Smith and Garyn Prater.

Myjai Saunders, Malik Vann, Darrien Beavers and Elijah Ponder get sacks.

Long kicker Cole Smith make a 45+ kick.
Short Kicker Sam Crosa (LOL he is 5-7) make all his kicks.

330# Lorenz Metz start at RT. He will be the heaviest Bearcat to ever play.

OL Jonathan Allen play during the game. He weighs 345#!
He can match up against NT Atonio Mafi (he is down to 363# from 410# last year)
and DE Otito Ogbonnia 336# and DL Ulysses Aburto 386#.

Heavy!

I must say I'm intrigued to see what the kid Pierce can do. Heard nothing but positive things about his progress and performance in camp. You have to like a 6' 3" 212 lb. body with good hands and route running....
