The list of "traditional" schools that don't have a uniform combination that doesn't have their school colors as primary is very, very small and gets smaller every year.

Your not quite hitting your mark. The teams you referred to will have a special uniform for a game or two, but stay close to their brand identity. Our uniforms are all over the place, colors, styles, helmets, constantly.. changes . I don’t think any of our uniforms are necessarily bad; just would like a little consistency. Maybe our identity is we don’t have one!?

Awesome. The players and recruits prefer we have a billion different combinations. It is part of what we use to differentiate ourselves from other schools. I will go with what the players and recruits prefer. Nobody is stopping you from only wearing to "consistent" colors or logos...

I would bet the kids would like a different combination every game. And, if it were possible, 12-14 completely different sets with no parts overlapping.

Some of our looks are awesome, others are okay, and some don't impress me.

I do think there needs to be some blue in every scheme at least somewhere. Was not a fan of the white/gray looks last year.

But at the end of the day, it doesn't really bother me. Throw stuff against the wall, see what sticks.

Funny, because those schools will occasionally wear an alternate uniform. We wore a different jersey, pants, helmet combination for every game. So your examples don't apply.

Agree 100%. I prefer some blue. And the only one in the past 5ish years I haven't cared for was the gray/white.
But if the coaches and players like them - go for it.

Close, but I don't think that's it exactly. The university likes it because Nike pays them a lot of money, and because players like it. Has nothing to do with making fans mad.

I actually believe Big Jack would love the energy of the program and everything around it - including the uniforms. I wish he was alive to see the resurgence.

3 years ago we were still wearing the same uniforms some of the time. Last year was out of control. This year seems to be even worse. You can wear different uniforms and still wear the school colours every now and then. White with grey and white with black...ugly.

U do realize we never wore the cheap looking bengals striped helmets before he got here; that’s my biggest issue. Looks Walmart discount bad.

Yes they do, because on any given week almost EVERY program can be wearing a uniform combination that has nothing to do with their official color combinations.

It also applies because unlike those schools that have incredibly rich traditions and huge P5 money and can afford just one or two uniforms to remain fresh and edgy, Memphis needs whatever advantage they can get. It has worked and is paying HUGE dividends for us. Multiple players mention the uniforms in discussing their recruitment and I have seen different videos that show the team going crazy at the new uniform reveals. They love it!!
