Program upswing?
All right, tonight the 2019-20 athletics season begins.

Women's basketball looks to be good again
Baseball is improving
Soccer is improving
Volleyball looks like it might be rebooting
Lots of reason for optimism in track and field

Could be a good year.

I follow most of our sports and obviously want them all to do well. However, men's basketball remains the key to whether we have a successful athletic program. We really need to avoid a 4th straight bad year in men's basketball.

RE: Program upswing?
Following win loss records of 15-17 in 2017, 7-25 in 2018, and 10-21 last year, what is "good enough" for this season? a .500 record? a top 50% in the conference? 15 wins? 20? Post season play? conference championship?

What is a reasonable expectation?

Have to be .500 overall or Darrell needs to hit the road.

RE: Program upswing?
I think DW has the talent to be top third in the Belt this year. It remains to be seen if he is enough of a whip cracker to get the job done.

Then next season we need to be among the favorites.

I will put it this way: if Beard, or even Shields, had this kind of talent, I would be assuming we would be one of the favorites.

I'm not sure how our talent matches up with the top of the Belt until I see us together on the floor. Not sure how realistic going from the bottom to top third, in one year really is. I hope it happens. I saw a lot of "length" out there at Little Rock Trojan Day. Hopefully, the kids have the talent to match. If they do, maybe getting to New Orleans (top 3rd) is possible.
