Not sure how you make that conclusion. Sounds more like its a fit with when scouts would be in town anyway.
Penny has been pretty clear that he is supportive of guys going pro and getting paid.
Tiger BB made same conclusion. Penny could have picked a different day a week later if he had wanted to. More scouts to see James and Precious than Hampton. And Hampton will have his lunch money stolen by the Grizz if they want to humiliate him.
Quote:The Tigers' pro day on Oct. 7 will coincide with a large group of NBA executives descending on the city for the Memphis Grizzlies' preseason game on Oct. 8 against RJ Hampton and the New Zealand Breakers.
It is honestly mind boggling how dumb you are; it is impossible to ignore. Penny would have to be brainless to try and organize a pro day when everyone is available, instead of picking a day when they already have plans to be in Memphis. That is literally the only day when it could have been scheduled, AND combining the two will probably lead to even more attending.
Someone would have to be brainless to think that Penny could attract even half the numbers if he scheduled it any other time.
Since Penny isn't brainless, he will probably take the opportunity to host recruits on official or unofficial visits that day. There isn't a better way for a potential player to go through the entire experience of playing at Memphis, having scouts pass through the entire time, on their way to the NBA.

He thinks they are coming to scout Penny lol. James is projected to go #1 and Precious in the lottery and we have 4-5 more legit NBA prospects and you don't think their pro day would outdraw a single #6 (who is seen as a knucklehead by some prestigious college coaches) whenever it is. Man, you are ignorant with a capital I. Only saw your ignorant post because it was quoted BTW.

Ask the coaches (OFF THE RECORD including Penny what they think) who were lied to when he had already strung out his recruitment a few weeks past that.

Kentucky fans that started their own thread about Memphis' pro day. Filled with a lot of posts about how much they hope it fails, how much they hope Penny fails, and how much they hope Wiseman fails. Other than that there's not much they have to add about this decision .... Oh, and Penny is just copying The Genius of John Calipari.

Agreed...
Just piggy backing on RJ being in town and also increasing his selling point to new recruits that being in an NBA town only increases your marketability if done correctly.
I agree completely that he is just taking advantage of the noise already created and striking for maximum amount of presence at the pro day. Nothing at all to try to make any impact (positive or negative) on RJ. But, as I said earlier and will continue to say... no one involved in the RJ recruitment like how he did it. It was a waste of resources for the schools involved when he knew he was going pro and had already signed a contract.

I haven’t spoken to Bill, Mike, Cal or Penny since this happened so how could I have proof? In fact, of the 4, I’ve only spoken to 2 briefly ever.

On second thought, you are right, I apologize. It is much easier, cost effective, time efficient, and a better barometer of RJ's talent to take a 20 hour flight during the NBA regular season to scout Hampton live in Australia, against Australian players; than it is to watch him in Memphis against an NBA team.
PennyWisemanShooters is a genius. If you don't believe him, just ask.
