Our last three games against conference foes were Missouri, Iowa State and Wake Forest. Very similar to ole miss in that they are middle tier p5 schools.

Because ole miss was 5-7 last season and lost several of their offensive weapons only returning 3 starters, not to mention starting a rFR QB that's only thrown 13 total passes. They return the 121st defense and lost two key players. They also didn't win a game against a team with a winning record.
Memphis was 8-5. Returns 7 starters (more than 70% of the yardage) from the #4 offense and 8 starters and almost 78% of tackles from a defense that ranked 81st overall.
Memphis played 2 ranked teams and lost by a combined total of 16.
ole miss played 3 ranked teams and lost by a combined total of 116.

On just about every position, Memphis has an edge. Especially in coaching!

The fact that it is ONLY a -6 is because it's the first game of the season and people can't accurately know just how bad ole miss will likely be this season.

One way would be for them to run the same play they ran with Nkemdiche but this time, have Jones run the ball. That was actually a clean tackle on Nkemdiche and he hit his head/helmet on the LB field as a result of the tackle. It was not intentional nor a bad hit on the part of the Tigers. Just a bad play selection that the Tigers were aware of since they had seen it on films and scouting reports on the OM football team. I mean...when you put a lineman in as a running back and set up the same formation you ran before.....who is going to be surprised??

I just hope the pep band has gotten the Baby Shark arrangements from Miss State.

Well of course they do. The question is how big of a spread. Line has been pretty stable at Memphis -6.5 since it opened. Seems most people agree that is a reasonable spread and the betting hasn't pushed it.

Ole Miss is breaking in new coordinators to run their offense and defense.
Rich Rodriguez...one of the progenitors of the RPO offense will be calling the plays for Ole Prius.
The question is, do they have the athletes to run the system?
It's not always easy to pick up right away, as seen by our QBs who've ran it for Memphis. Yes they did decently well season 1..but they did even better in season 2.
Ole Prius will be breaking in a freshman QB, and unless he ran a RPO in high school, it won't start being second nature to him until his 2nd year or so.

The Ole Prius offense, and the Memphis OL will be the deciding factors in the game.
If Memphis' OL plays well, opens holes in the Ole Prius defense...we have a better than fighting chance.
If the Ole Prius frosh QB struggles...we have an even better chance.
If the Memphis OL struggles...and Ole Prius doesn't...we're in for a long day.
