Tigers vs Ole Miss by the numbers
Once again as usual in opening week games these are last year's final numbers. So we cannot read too much into them.

Seems that we should have a shootout with both teams having some offensive firepower.

Special teams could be a factor in the game.

The turnover game could also be big.

Very well could come down to a single stop by whichever defense stands up and makes that stop.

The loss of Henderson and Pollard will not be as significant as many think. Taylor will be able to take up much of the slack in the running game. Gainwell should be a lightning response to Taylor's thunder, while Samuel should do a good job replacing Pollard in the return game.

Tigers look solid at WR..

Another year in the system should give White a lot of confidence and he should improve on his 2018 numbers which already were a Tigers top 10 single-season performance.

RE: Tigers vs Ole Miss by the numbers
Thanks for posting.

For me, this shows that their offense was a lot better than I remember or expected or their record suggested.
Our weakness has been the secondary, which passing as their strong suit could take advantage of...
This makes me think the game will be closer than I had imagined (i.e 7 pts).
I sure hope our Safeties are better, and we can get pressure.

“The loss of Henderson and Pollard will not be as significant as many think.” I thought no this statement is outright ridiculous. It’s like saying losing DRose and CDR wasn’t as significant as most believed.

none of that information is pertinent to Ole Miss for the coming season.
They have 2 different coordinators guiding both offense and defense.
Rich Rodriguez will be calling the offensive plays...and former Colorado head coach Mike Macintyre will be calling the defense.

Your understanding of the team is the only thing ridiculous. They were a Sweet 16 team the following year and if the coach hadn't tanked the game would've been Elite 8 or better.

You occasionally post things that make me think you aren't just throwing things out there to see what stick, but then you post this.

They went from a stone cold national championship team to being saved in first round by Roburt Sallie’s 8 threes. I saw both teams in person in Tournament play. They weren’t even close in talent or as a “ team”. Of course, losing 2 all Americans tends to do that to a team.

I believe in Gainwell but is he going to put up 1100 rushing yards and Patrick close to 2000?

They went from a stone cold national championship team to being saved in first round by Roburt Sallie’s 8 threes. I saw both teams in person in Tournament play. They weren’t even close in talent or as a “ team”. Of course, losing 2 all Americans tends to do that to a team.

I believe in Gainwell but is he going to put up 1100 rushing yards and Patrick close to 2000?

First comparing basketball to football is stupid. Losing two stars on a basketball team is 40% of starters. Losing 2 stars on a football team isn't even 9%. Not to mention that the basketball team lost more than just those two players.
I seem to remember a non-starter bailing out the basketball team against Miss St in the second round of 2008 as well.

Second, no. They will simply see along the lines of the progression from 2016, the first season with Riley Ferguson to 2017 the second. The passing numbers will likely go up to make up the difference. I see Taylor rushing for between 1000 and 1500. Not to mention that Pollard didn't even rush for 600 last year. So, while we won't have 2 dominant backs, we will likely have 4 or so that pick up the slack.

But, to go back to your ridiculous basketball situation. It would be more like Rose returned for his second year and we lost CDR and AA. I think if we would've had Dorsey, Dozier and Rose to add to the rest of the team, that would've been an easy Elite 8 team. Since the FOOTBALL team has a QB returning that had a Top 5 season in Tiger history in his first year. Only the 3rd WR in Tiger history to go over 1,000 receiving yards. A RB who should go down as the 2nd leading rushing in Tiger history, not to mention solid players to go around them... I don't see it being nearly as drastic of a loss as you seem to want to believe. And that's just the offensive side of the ball. Add to all that an improved defense, even less of a hit on the loss of those two players.

Your understanding of the team is the only thing ridiculous. They were a Sweet 16 team the following year and if the coach hadn't tanked the game would've been Elite 8 or better.

You occasionally post things that make me think you aren't just throwing things out there to see what stick, but then you post this.

White, Taylor, and Coxie make up a very potent offense. With another year under their belt in the system, they could threaten several single-season records and be firmly in the top 10 of many career records.
