Palestinian Authority bans LGBT activities in West Bank
Quote:The Palestinian Authority is banning all LGBT members from activities in the West Bank.

The ban comes after the group Al-Qaws for Sexual & Gender Diversity in Palestinian Society, which supports Palestinians who identify as a part of the gay community, was planning to hold a gathering for its members at the end of August, but won't be able to anymore. Their event was supposed to be held in Nablus.

Luay Zreikat, spokesperson for the PA Police, told the Jerusalem Post that activities from the organization are “harmful to the higher values and ideals of Palestinian society.”

He also claimed that group’s activities were completely “unrelated to religions and Palestinian traditions and customs, especially in the city of Nablus," and that "dubious parties" were working to “create discord and harm civic peace in Palestinian society.”

Zreikat also warned that they will arrest anyone caught in violation of the law and urged Palestinians to report any violation of the law they witness.

“The Palestinian police announcement about our activities is very unfortunate,” the group stated in response to the new law. “It’s very strange that they are accusing us of being a suspicious entity working to take apart Palestinian society. Al-Qaws is a Palestinian organization that has been operating since 2001 and is carrying out educational and professional programs on sexual and gender diversity. We totally reject the attempt to create an atmosphere of prosecution and intimidation, as well threats of arrest.”

Meanwhile Tel Aviv had a pride parade back in June with over 250K attendees. But yes Tliab and Omar, tell us how Israel is the great oppressor.

Nonsense. The world isn't black and white. One entity isn't all good and one all bad. Israel isn't all good or all bad. Neither is the State of Palestine.

People can have nuanced stances on issues and regions. I can support Israel's more progressive LGBT policies and be against their treatment of their neighbors.

Do you really think I hate America shere?

I'm a progressive democrat.

RE: Palestinian Authority bans LGBT activities in West Bank
Quote:The left has made it very clear that no hindrance of the LGBT community should occur in any capacity for any reason. Supporting anything that opposes the LGBT community makes you a homophobic, transphobic, other-phobic bigot who should be shamed into oblivion by the general public.

So Rep. Ilhan Omar should definitely qualify for being the target of the mob’s rage after she failed to condemn the Palestinian Authority (PA) for banning LGBT activists from the West Bank. Right?

….right?

The news from the Jersusalem Post dropped on Saturday that the PA was banning these activists after Al-Qaws for Sexual & Gender Diversity in Palestinian Society planned to gather in Nablus at the end of the month. The PA plans to chase and arrest anyone responsible for these meetings:

Explaining the decision to ban the LGBTQ group from operating in PA-controlled areas, Luay Zreikat, spokesperson for the PA Police, said that such activities are “harmful to the higher values and ideals of Palestinian society.”

Zreikat said that the group’s activities were completely “unrelated to religions and Palestinian traditions and customs, especially in the city of Nablus.”

He accused unnamed “dubious parties” of working to “create discord and harm civic peace in Palestinian society.”

The PA police will chase those behind the LGBTQ group and see to it that they are brought to trial once they are arrested, Zreikat warned. He further appealed to Palestinians to report to the police about any person connected to the group.

Robby Starbuck brought up the fact that the woke squad members Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, the two Muslim members of Congress who have recently made a show of their hatred towards Israel (they call it “criticism” but tomato, tom-antisemitism) would definitely be woke enough to condemn the PA for such a homophobic act.

Spoiler alert: She doesn’t.

In fact, Omar immediately tried to turn the conversation back around toward Israel and it’s “violations.”

No one brought Israel up. That was just a knee-jerk reaction from Omar upon Palestine being criticized. Omar sent out one more tweet, making sure she still seemed woke by saying “we should condemn any effort to infringe upon” LGBT rights, but immediately put the attention back on Israel and it’s “occupation.”

Notice she doesn’t outright say “I condemn the Palestinian Authority for its mistreatment of LGBT peoples.” She doesn’t attempt to publicly convince the PA that what it’s doing is wrong. She doesn’t even tell the LGBT community that she stands with them against this level of state-enforced bigotry.

In the rule book crafted by the left, Omar’s silence is violence. She merely calls LGBT rights human rights, makes no other efforts to convince the PA to stand down or even reinforce her commitment to her woke values, and proceeds to turn the attention to Israel, who wasn’t even mentioned in the first place.

Btw, Israel allows LGBT members to exist within its borders, the PA doesn’t. Omar is siding with an anti-LGBT government.

By every definition of the left, Ilhan Omar is a homophobic bigot.
