Alex Mussat position switch to WR?
Thought I’d caught up on most of the offseason moves but I just caught this one. Looks like we still have 6 QBs on the roster. Hopefully Alex can get his athleticism on the field somehow...WR trick plays, special teams, etc.

Yes, too many QBs on the roster and Mussat is a good athlete. When I watched his HS tape, I actually thought he looked really good as a runner. Would probably make for a decent fullback if he packed on 20-30 pounds.

He probably won't see a lot of action, but he does provide another big body on the outside. Always useful in the redzone.

I wonder if he requested the move, or if a coach proposed it. Either way, I like that he is still engaged enough in the program to be interested in changing positions to get in the game. QB's tend to be outstanding athletes. If he has good hands, I'm sure he understands the offense well, and could prove to be valuable. I wish more players were open-minded to switching when the circumstances dictate.

Worked well for Julian Edelman in NE.

I think that Alex has been a great ambassador and teammate with WMU... it will be great to see him get some playing time.

Maybe he will be like Robert Arnheim back in the day? He was a QB and switched to WR, I remember him being a decent WR.

Yeah, Arnheim turned into a very reliable receiver after a couple of years. He was big for us beating Illinois at Ford Field. I remember Ledbetter and Julien going down, leaving our pass-catching corps with a converted QB in Arnheim, a converted freshman DB in Dervon Wallace, and Jamarko Simmons. What a hell of a game!

With bad injuries and tons of freshmen, you never know how instrumental Mussat might be at some point.
