A look at weeks 1-4, we'll be level with the entire league
In weeks 1-4, there are only 3 conference games, and plenty of P5 drubbings scheduled.
At the end of Week 4 I foresee:
East
FIU 3-1, 1-1 (wins over @Tulane, WKU, New Hampshire; loss @LaTech)
Marshall 2-1, 0-0 (W VMI, Ohio; loss at Boise State)
FAU 2-2, 0-0 (W @Ball State, Wagner; L @Ohio State, UCF)
ODU 1-2, 0-0 (W Norfolk St; L @VPI, @UVA)
Charlotte 2-2, 0-0 (W Garner Webb, UMass; L @App State, @Clemson)
WKU 1-2, 0-1 (W Central Arkansas; L @FIU, @Louisville)
MTSU 1-2, 0-0 (W Tenn State; L @Michigan, Duke)

West
LaTech 3-1, 1-0 (W Grambling, @Bowling Green, FIU; L @Texas)
North Texas 2-2, 1-0 (W Abilene Christian, UTSA; L @SMU, @CAL)
UAB 2-1, 0-0 (W Alabama State, South Alabama; L @Akron)
UTSA 1-3, 0-1 (W Incarnate Word; L @Baylor, Army, @UNT)
So Miss 1-3, 0-0 (W Alcorn State; L @MissState, @Troy, @Alabama)
UTEP 1-2, 0-0 (W Houston baptist; L @TexasTech, Nevada)
Rice 0-4, 0-0 (L @Army, Wake Forest, Texas, Baylor)

Analysis: If ODU can take their lumps and find a QB, by week 5 East Carolina, we will be very level with the conference, I still see a 25% chance of 7 wins by sweeping the home schedule. Eastern division teams except for FIU will really be stretched by the P5 games.

Great analysis and overall, I agree, particularly with a reasonable possiblily of winning seven games (or so).

As to UNT -- first, I don't like them, and that goes way back to the '60s when they were North Texas State (NTSU). But, if Fine stays healthy, I think they can have just as good a chance of going 4-0 as they do 2-2 -- and Lord knows I hate to say that. Oh, and I do believe I enjoyed our comeback win over the Eagles (Mean Green) more than anyone else in the stadium last year.

Nice post. Fwiw I think FIU will beat La Tech, but I see the argument picking the home team. I also hope USM beats Troy, not sure if they will, but if I learned anything this off-season it's that USM is the bees knees and is above this league so they should be able to take care of business against anyone in Sun belt.

If anything, this post goes to show that cusa football is way ahead of cusa basketball in terms of ooc scheduling.

Is the “spitter” still on UNT’s roster?

East
FIU 3-1, 1-1 (wins over @Tulane, WKU, New Hampshire; loss @LaTech) 1-3, looking bad
Marshall 2-1, 0-0 (W VMI, Ohio; loss at Boise State) 2-1 right on
FAU 2-2, 0-0 (W @Ball State, Wagner; L @Ohio State, UCF) 2-2 ditto
ODU 1-2, 0-0 (W Norfolk St; L @VPI, @UVA) 1-2 played better than record and anticipated
Charlotte 2-2, 0-0 (W Garner Webb, UMass; L @App State, @Clemson) 2-2 no D
WKU 1-2, 0-1 (W Central Arkansas; L @FIU, @Louisville) 1-2 but 1-0 in CUSA
MTSU 1-2, 0-0 (W Tenn State; L @Michigan, Duke) 1-2 right on guess

West
LaTech 3-1, 1-0 (W Grambling, @Bowling Green, FIU; L @Texas) 3-1 ditto
North Texas 2-2, 1-0 (W Abilene Christian, UTSA; L @SMU, @CAL) 2-2 no D, Fine may not make the whole season
UAB 2-1, 0-0 (W Alabama State, South Alabama; L @Akron) 3-0 destroyed Akron and USA
UTSA 1-3, 0-1 (W Incarnate Word; L @Baylor, Army, @UNT) 1-3 right on schedule
So Miss 1-3, 0-0 (W Alcorn State; L @MissState, @Troy, @Alabama) 2-2 nice win at Troy
UTEP 1-2, 0-0 (W Houston baptist; L @TexasTech, Nevada) 1-2 with marked improvement
Rice 0-4, 0-0 (L @Army, Wake Forest, Texas, Baylor) 0-4 1927 Yankees the only big boy they haven't played

My 2cents, ODU is in a good spot in the league, two must wins at home the next two weeks

Just have to win the next two and we will be fine. If LaLa is healthy, I actually feel better about our chances now than before we played VT/UVA. The O needs to improve, but the D has done well except against NSU. If we lose the next two, we suck. If we win them, a bowl is actually a possibility.
