Ya'll think coach Houston was being sincere or just a shrewd negotiator? As an ECU fan I'd like to think it's a little bit of both but I remember when it went down 49er fans ripped him for being slimy and deceitful. Obviously, emotions run high in the moment and school/conference allegiance plays its part as well which is why I'm interested in outside perspectives now that time has passed.

Looking forward to starting a football rivalry with the 49ers in a few years!

I call BS... Houston got his name out there for a bigger deal, somewhere else. He used Charlotte to do that. Nothing in the world of hiring a coach is a secret. When is the last time you said "OMG I can't believe he/she went there !!".

We knew to be looking for Mike Houston smoke when this was going down because he was an obvious candidate of interest for us fans but the intel that he was interested came from the JMU side. He's a heck of a coach and I'm sure he'll do well in Greenville, but good grief he's a bit of a diva. At least you guys know what to expect when he looks to move up (and don't believe it when he says he wants to stay).

Maybe kids wants to play in major city instead of a shithole. A great game atmosphere certainly helps but probably isn't the deciding factor for a kid that doesn't care to play in a small town in the middle of nowhere.

I can only speak for Charlotte when it comes to recruiting and say that recruiting under Healy is worlds ahead of what Lambert and his staff were doing.
