Man I miss those days when he would win a game at the last second.

I don't miss the days before the shot clock, tho!
LOL at Tom giving himself CPR.

YES. I watched that & all I could think was "Thank goodness for the shot clock."

Didn’t see this post.

But YES.

It didn’t seem so bad at the times but even when they show highlights of the famed NC State Houston upset, the pace was excruciating.

A simpler slower game for simpler slower times I guess.

One of TWO game winning shots in ‘85 NCAA tournament to get us to F4 was against BC and the real good little guard Michael Adams. And I think Vincent Askew and Andre Turner were the best pair of starting defensive guards we’ve ever had. Vincent could guard 1-4 spots and Andre was so dangerous stealing the ball. Both great on the ball defenders.

A few comments:

Perhaps the single best rule change in college basketball was the shot clock. The two minutes was unbearably boring, then after the steal, both teams looked like engaged basketball teams.

The improvements in athleticism and defense are incalculable.

I was a sophomore at MSU in 1985 and it looks so old.

I disagree about athleticism. I don’t want to see it again but Drexler jumping over Andre and dunking in a tight game in the NCAA tournament was one of the most athletic moves I’ve seen. And Bird, Magic and Penny were great passers as you will EVER see.

What you are seeing here is a chess match between two great coaches in an tie game to get to E8. Mostly packed in zone with BC wanting the last shot (no shot clock) and Vincent stole the ball and Andre hit about as clutch a shot as you will ever see.

I also remember him saving our butts in Metro tournament In Louisville stealing the ball from PeeWee Barber and hitting game winning layup.

We were at Holiday Inn where some of the teams were staying and had been drinking much of the day/night. After the game, Barber came in the bar inside the hotel where we were at. My buddy started with a joke about Andre picking his pocket and we gave him a fairly hard time but He took it well and we were politely ribbing him. We talked basketball for a while. He really respected Tigers and Andre.

That's what I'm afraid of. One wrong jump and we'll have a Justin Timberlake & Janet Jackson incident.

LQ is a great talent and I don't want to discourage his individualism, but I think before the season starts a dress code should be implemented (if not already implemented) that defines how to properly wear the uniform. This Includes wearing the correct color shoes during games.

Knowing this year's team will garner a lot of national press, we want the publicity to be about how great the team is, versus how individual players wear the uniform.

So you don't want to discourage his individualism but you want him to look like everyone else? It's not a battle worth fighting IMO.

wait...I know. Have all our players go to the shorter length. The style is coming mainstream anyway. I noticed it last year.

Memphis will be on the cutting edge!

It's kinda the same thing as Ezekiel Elliott and him tucking in his jersey, showing the mi-drift.
