Rice makes the top 25 at #24, but I don't believe I've ever seen UC-Irvine ranked as the #1 school in the nation (and Baruch #2). UC-Riverside is ahead of Harvard. Cal State Fullerton is ahead of Rice. For some reason, California schools do very well in this new list.

Even stranger - A&M #18, UT #28

Rice did have 2nd highest median SAT/ACT scores at 1540/34, behind only Cal Tech at 1560/35.

Didn't investigate to understand how they define "best".

Here's a link to their explanation of their methodology: http://money.com/money/5649328/how-money...eges-2019/

It's a tortuous read ... as they try to quantify their intention to rank via a) Quality of education; b) Affordability; and c) Outcomes.

If there is a California bias in the study (it sure looks like it), maybe they used longitude scores?

These ranking stories can be so silly, when you understand what they rank, and oftentimes, they just show the bias of the creators of the ranking.

Well, if income is the basis for outcomes, then there is a natural bias toward places where the cost of living is high... i.e., California.
