Vox explains how Democrats think
https://www.vox.com/science-and-health/2...psychology

I wonder if they have a clue they are talking about themselves and the Russian conspiracy theories. Republicans tend to be more analytical and less emotional in politics. Dems tend to be all Sally Fields and Sally Struthers.

"...Research has found that some people are just more prone to believing in conspiracy theories than others. And it’s not because these people are necessarily unintelligent (though being more analytical is correlated with being less swayed by conspiracies.)

People who feel powerless and who are more pessimistic are also more likely to believe in conspiracy theories. The theories “serve the need for people to feel safe and secure in their environment and to exert control over the environment,” a recent review of the field of conspiracy theory psychology, explains. They’re also a type of motivated reasoning. If conspiracy theories about Epstein’s death make the Clintons look bad, people on the right are going to be more likely to embrace them...."

"...and the baseless conspiracy theories that the Clintons have orchestrated many murders over decades..." Why is he injecting opinion here? He knows they are baseless as much as I know they have merit.

How about this, there are conspiracy theories and there are conspiracies. I don't really require a clinical breakdown of the motivation behind them as if it explains away some great mystery.

A couple folks here were thinking there was a possibility that Epstein didn't die and that the body was in fact Tony Rodham's 2-month-old dead body which had been kept frozen somehow (not the two posters so far in this thread - but others here thought it was possible - see page 13 of the Epstein's dead thread). Would those be the analytical, less emotional folks you're referring to?

If one can imagine this as the plot of a movie then one can conceptualize such an event occurring in real life. I'm not saying anything remotely like that happened but it could, it's not out of the realm of the impossible.

I think he is referring to all of the people that thought Trump was an agent for Russia. That is the biggest and most mainstream conspiracy theory in the history of the country. It was pushed by the media.

I'm pretty sure several have said that it wasn't possible, unlike the Collusion Illusion that's been discussed every day for 2 years here...

I don't think I've ever once claimed Russia helped Trump win. I'm sure I'm like a lot of Democrats who pick and choose which media stories we believe in.

I'd say a better conclusion is that there are nutjobs on both sides of the political spectrum.

I can agree with you on that. And I don’t believe I saw you pushing the narrative either.

Proving my point. The left has no sense of humor. No sarcasm meter either. If you think they actually believed that, you are a prime candidate for believing conspiracy theories.

Yes, but those nutjobs include every single Democratic politician in DC and essentially every MSM journalist.

All of the Dems all of the media knew Russia Russia was fake af. There has been an ongoing coup since before Trump was elected. I never thought I would see anything like this in my lifetime.

Where evil colludes there is conspiracy. That's true of insider trading (does anyone deny it happens?), true of murder plots (proven in courtrooms everywhere and annually), true of mail fraud, phone fraud, and embezzlement, and certainly true of the uber wealthy who try to conceal crimes (think Kennedy's as a poster family).

I'd say you were more delusional not to believe in conspiracies than those who do.

The only weapon that those involved in conspiracy have is playing the nut job card and getting their paid minions in the press to sell it.

And when they do this they never stick to the conspiracy at hand. They always jump to Ancient Aliens and Bigfoot believers as their case study, unless of course they actually interview people in an asylum who are beyond the edge of reason.

And to the paranoid the old saying is, "Just because you are paranoid that doesn't mean they aren't out to get you!"
