I read the article and just shook my head. It's like reading an alternate history novel

Strange that before every football season they feel the need to prop Ray up.

Everyone needs a participation trophy even Ray just so that they can feel good about themselves

Why did they not ask about the reduction in enrollment the next fall after the elimination of football? Nothing but increases before and since reinstatement? Why did they not ask about the value of the football program to the college experience and how can you quantify that value now?
How flawed was the “data” used in evaluating the program and why did the university turn down donations for football only prior to the “data” evaluation.
I am amazed that Watts is still peddling his lies.

It didn’t have to be like this. A true leader would have worked with the city to help generate financial support for the football program. A true leader would have at least attempted to solve the problem, instead of throwing out a white flag. Watts gave up on the UAB Football Program, and he never tried to give it life.

I threw up after reading it. Ray Ray is a pathological liar.

Was the article's author living in B'ham during the 2014 to 2017 period and is therefore dependent on Dr Watt's memory of how things went down during that period? I read only Ray's side of the "no confidence" votes and the crisis year for UAB sports. Named President in 2013, abolished football in 2014, notified of being dumped by C-USA in all sports spring 2015, reinstated football June 2015. Great sense of timing!

Comments about how he is a puppet and he really doesn't care about the undergraduate part of UAB need to made in the comment section of the article.
