No one is sure what's going to happen.
Mostly it's a horrendous wait-and-see game. The next two months are going to be very telling.
That ONE COUNTRY 2 SYSTEMS thing was doomed from the start, imo. It seemed obvious that those two ideologically opposed approaches to justice would clash...and rightly so.
Britain expects China to honor their signed contract, however. So the Hong Kong protesters have the 'backing' of GB..and the U.S.
Taking over the airport was prolly not a great idea, but it was a spontaneous reaction to police violence, and the Hong Kong folks did get their message across to more of the world. I didn't check how many flights were cancelled, but that is one huge hub of an airport.
The actual demonstrations involve as many as a million protesters at one time. Hong Kong police (under the command of a puppet Hong Kong government) are obviously in the minority; they are struggling therefore to keep order, often resorting to horrific violence which gets broadcast on social media--further inciting anger.
On the one hand, nothing gets hidden with social media driving the bus. On the other, you have to search for truth, or you'll get fed what the search engines think you want to hear, based on the data they've collected through your searches...lol.
The Hong Kong folks are putting their very lives on the line. They know their future is at stake, not to mention the future of Hong Kong itself. The Hong Kong 'system' of Justice is in danger of being co-opted by the Chinese Government. It doesn't help to have a Chinese puppet in charge of Hong Kong. She supports extradition.
Meanwhile, protests are also going on in Moscow. Police are brutal there too, as evidenced by the violent videos of their police pounding on protesters that went viral, which is why Russia is blaming Google, btw.

The masses don't like Putin as much any more. They want elections. He's worried.
I know this. If we have to watch the folks in Hong Kong get mowed down by the Chinese Army, it will be worse than heartbreaking. Same with Moscow.
