RE: On the road again: A coach's mission to find his next stars
This article provides great insight into TK’s recruiting philosophy as far as what he and his assistant coaches are looking for in determining whether or not to offer a scholarship to a particular high school player or college transfer. Shooting and passing ability and how they see the floor are 3 skill sets that are essential for being offered by the Toledo Staff. Character traits like how players respond to adversity and how they treat teammates, coaches and referees are also key to earning a Rocket scholarship. If you look at TK’s coaching career at Toledo, I think his recruiting "formula" has worked out very well for Toledo Men’s Basketball based on both on and off the court results.

In his interview with Balbinot, TK said the team has veto power over a possible recruit. On a visit, a recruit spends time with team members when coaches are not around. If the team thinks he would not fit in, no further recruiting efforts are made. Character counts.
