I would suspend him. Then sue his ass for breach of contract and have him repay every dime he got in his original rookie contract.

He agreed to his contract and should abide by that contract until he signs the next one.

That's not how contracts work.

If Pollard has a couple of big games does Zek lose bargaining power?

Zeke hasn’t played in preseason games the last 3 years. Doubt if big games by anyone else in preseason has an impact yet.

This is different though. Zeke is holding out and playing hard ball. Big stakes.

As I understand it, listening to the local ATL sports channel, those playing under their rookie contract (3 yrs I think) can attempt to renegotiate after their first year but if they are unsuccessful & they hold out & aren't on the active roster opening weekend, they are still property of the team & the existing contract is extended another year. This would mean Elliot would give the Cowboys another year under the original contract if he holds out beyond opening day.

IMO. the stakes are too high for Elliot under those terms. The Cowboys, especially if Pollard is seen as a reasonable alternative, gain more control over Elliot if he holds out. seems stupid for Elliot to hold out under those conditions. Better to wait later in his contract when he is not subject to an automatic extension of his current contract.

Should have been a new thread for the cowboys vs rams rather than retreading an old thread for a past game. IMO

My understanding was a lot more games than the opening game. I thought it was week 10.

I think the rookie contract is 3 years and the teams had an option for a fourth... Elliott has a five year deal so an extra year doesn't hurt him.

Found the contract info. Still seems to me Elliott should have reported, better long term contract sooner as an unrestricted FA if he had - especially as a RB which teams seem to be less & less dependent upon under current NFL style of play.

RE: Pollard to start tonight
Lots of talk on TV sports shows here in Dallas and from the Cowboys that Tony Pollard is the surprise draft pick that is turing out to be a starter. and the "real deal" They only played him for a few plays in the first quarter and he scored the first TD on a running play that showed his ability to stay on his feet and score. Elliott returned to Dallas two days ago. Someone on the plane with him shot a photo of him in the plane and it ended up on TV here. I think Elliott had been in Mexico. Here is a video of Tony's TD run. He averaged 8.4 yards per carry in the Rams game.

The earliest he could be a Unrestricted FA is 2021 even if he had already reported. Same situation if he sits out 9 games.

He hasn't hurt himself as far as contract length...But I am sure GM's and owners aren't chomping at the bit to get a troublesome yet talented running back who wants it his way or the highway. Will be interesting to see how this one turns out.

The nice thing about getting into the pros is that you get a lot more indept analysis of what the players are doing and this video is a classic example. I bet you never knew about this aspect of Tony's running before seeing this video.

If you never knew about this aspect of Tony's running game before watching this video, then you know nothing about the current status of Tiger Football.

Come join us at the Liberty Bowl and enjoy these players every home game, not Youtube highlight videos that are a dime a dozen these days in Tiger Football.

We just received a commitment from the 2018 #3 running back according to Rivals with 3 years of eligibility left.

Enjoy watching the good times roll live in the stands at the LB, rather than Youtube, if you are physically able. Unlimited expensive $8 beers and quality sandwiches like Lenny's available. Come enjoy the next Tony Pollard unfold right before your eyes in the LB. He was like a Stallion on special teams in the LB they just released out of the gate like a thoroughbred in the KY Derby race.

Pollard has look brilliant all preseason. He was perhaps at his best last night.

And he is running it between the tackles and breaking big runs consistently.

The cowboys have to be thrilled.
