No, dumb***, that's more of a description of you than me.

I don't agree with the searches at the airport. I don't agree with abortion being legal. But what I do agree with is the foundation of our government, and if the judicial branch rules that laws allowing searches at airports or abortion are legal under our Constitution then they are legal until proven otherwise. Our Constitution provided checks and balances. If the Legislative branch passes a law the Executive branch can veto it and the Judicial branch can rule if it's Constitutional. Thus far your complaints about the 4th Amendment have been ruled to be bogus by the Judicial branch, thus your complaints do not pass Constitutional muster. If you think you have a case then I suggest you file a lawsuit and follow the Constitutional process to seek redress. If not then shut the **** up with your baseless claims.

Oh, is that right?

So if more restrictive gun laws get passed under the next Dem president and enforced I can look forward to you arguing with people about how that's Constitutional? Because Congress and the courts say so?

Interesting change from my initial question when I asked how you felt about TSA and you said "show me where the Constitution says you have a right to fly on planes".

That whole paragraph is a bootlicking answer. "If our government says its constitutional then it is!" That attitude is how we ended up with a f*cking police state, welfare state, military industrial complex, nanny state.

Left and right both hate freedom.

It's no change. You don't have the Constitutional right to fly on a plane without a search, as affirmed by the judicial branch in multiple rulings. It's crystal ******* clear that you are wrong and I am right.

There have been plenty of Supreme Court rulings regarding guns that I don't agree with.

In your hypothesis about gun laws it's highly doubtful considering the make-up of the federal court in the foreseeable future that your wet dreams of draconian gun laws are going to come to pass so that's not a concern. Best try to obtain citizenship in Australia or New Zealand than putting your chips in that basket.

Both Elizabeth Warren (Harvard Law Prof., Native American quota recipient) and Kamala Harris (former California prosecutor) described Michael Brown's death as a murder.

That neither knows the definition of murder should be an embarrassment to both Harvard and California.

If Trump’s rhetoric is responsible for the El Paso WalMart shooting, then the tweets of the above politicians (and similar tweets in the past) are responsible for all the police officers shot and killled in their patrol cars over the past five years.

Those are regulated by the states as it should be, although the drinking age itself is probably technically a violation of the 10th. Not something I would get wrapped around the axle about but its never made sense to me that 18 year olds can't have a beer.

Nobody is arguing that the laws are on the books allowing TSA, DHS etc. to exist. I actually do have the Constitutional right to fly on a plane without a search-- by the government-- and it is clear that I'm right if you just read the damn Constitution. If airlines want to conduct screening- and I'm sure they would- before you step onto their property (airplanes) then they have every right. And to me there is a bright line between the federal government and an airline searching and keeping lists on the people.

It's amazing that you will sit here and defend the federal government's overreach by simply saying "but the judicial branch upheld it"! Our checks and balances are actually meaningless if that's the way most people think (and it is, as evidenced by them continuing to vote in Dems and Republicans).

And again, I may not be a gun nut like you, but that doesn't mean I think your guns should be taken away. In fact the government doesn't have that power at all because of the 2A. I'm not sure why the concept of disagreeing but not wanting the government to step in is so hard for you to grasp.

Everyone TSA searches is trying to carry a bomb on?

This is like saying nobody should be allowed to go to the theater because one person might yell "fire" and cause a stampede.

Nobody is allowed to board airplanes without the government flagrantly violating the 4th because some people broke the law and killed others.

Where's the consistency? Seems you ought to be for gun control, after all people are killing with guns every day. Should the government get to flagrantly violate the 2nd because some people are breaking the law?

https://amgreatness.com/2019/08/08/joe-s...ttesville/

"...Trump pointed out that white nationalists were not the only ones in attendance at the event. Antifa was also there, as were “very fine people” who were only marching for or against the removal of the statue. The media twisted the words “very fine people” to mean he was complimenting white supremacists, even though there is no honest way to read his statement as though that were his meaning.

The coverage of Charlottesville was a concerted effort to portray Trump as sympathetic to Nazis by unfairly parsing his statements to suggest a connection. More, the dominant media had been in desperate search for a hook to use in order to claim that this white supremacist movement is what got Trump elected.

Having spent little time in rural Ohio, they imagine a bunch of shotgun wielding racists, whom Trump attracted to his cause by appealing to their deplorable-ness. These are ridiculous and unfounded charges that effectively libel half of America.

When “Charlottesville” is cited by fake newshounds like Joe Scarborough as conclusive evidence that Trump espouses white supremacy, there is no truth to it. It is shameful appropriation of America’s history of racism to serve the media’s resistance to Trump."

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Airports are public correct? 4A doesn't apply there? Because....

Too easy. You need to try harder.

Airports much like government facilities, military bases, etc. are secure facilities. They are not "public".

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/us-airports...ight-zone/

Quote:Much of the opposition to airport body scanners invokes the Constitution; one company is even selling pasties emblazoned with the Fourth Amendment to protect passengers' dignity while passing through scanners.

But the Fourth Amendment, along with most of the Constitution, does not apply in the airport the same way it does in most public spaces. U.S. airports are a Constitutional "twilight zone" - the rights you have in the outside morph once you step inside the terminal, and it has been this way long before September 11.

Federal law requires commercial airline passengers to be searched prior to boarding a plane and airlines cannot transport any passenger who refuses (49 U.S.C. § 44902). Over the past 40 years, the courts have repeatedly upheld the constitutionality of warrantless airport security screenings as part of an overall regulatory effort to prevent hijackings and other terrorist activity.

The Supreme Court states that blanket suspicionless searches are allowed in the airport as long as terrorism poses a risk to public safety.

Quote:["[O]nce a passenger enters the secured area of an airport, the constitutionality of a screening search does not depend on consent. That legal conclusion rests firmly on Supreme Court precedent and on the government's interest in ensuring the safety of passengers, airline personnel, and the general public." - Aukai v. United States, 04-10226]

According to the courts, airline passengers also consent to be searched when they choose to fly. When a person consents to a government search outside the airport, they have the right to revoke their consent at any time, but not at the airport.

The courts have held that once a passenger elects to enter into the secured area of an airport by walking through the security screener or by merely placing items on the conveyor belt of the x-ray machine, they have effectively consented to the screening, and they cannot revoke consent.

And you're OK with that because the courts said it? Courts are infallible now? I guess you're not allowed to disagree with Roe vs. Wade then.

I dont disagree with you in concept and think the government over reached when it came to laws after 9-11. But we are a nation of laws and even if we dont like the laws we must live by them. Or fight to change the laws. The highest court in this land ruled on this and its up to congress to change that law....

your fight is with your congress members and getting them to fight and change the laws. I personally hate all the watering down of rights after 9-11 but again...

laws are what able us to basically live together without a ruler dictating every parts of our life.

With that Mike Brown was scum and chose his own time to die. Not the police that shot him.
