Sorry for the type o. Yes realistic. Do I think we only win 1 game? No, but I dont think we win 4 or more either. We may finally have a legit fbs defense but we have no real experience at QB and our best o lineman is moving from LT to center because we only have 1 experienced lineman. From an outsider's perspective of course they think we will only win 1 game.

Not naive or obtuse. Side show is a pretty level headed poster. His opinion is his opinion and clearly you have a different one. Looking at what they have returning from a winning season and what we have returning from a losing season I dont see how you can honestly say we look better than them but again. It's your opinion.

Instead of creating a new thread for each team, I decided to just update this one thread and change the title to reflect the current team be evaluated. I just seems easier.

#13 UTSA

Hate to place the Runners here. Not because I like them, but because it means the west will be a weaker division. UTSA has taken a step back since reaching their first bowl in 2016. Frank Wilson's seat has got to be getting pretty hot, and this should be a make or break year for him. UTSA returns 6 starters on each side of the ball, which isn't bad. But the Runners had the worst offense in the nation last season, and their defense took a step back also. The OOC schedule doesn't do UTSA any favors either, with games at Baylor and Texas A&M. Plus, UTSA will host an Army team that flat out embarrassed Houston in their bowl game to end last season. Combine that difficult OOC schedule with the fact that this team still has to find a QB to lead them and it appears wins could be hard to come by for UTSA in 2019.

Actually, LAST year UNT nearly fell into the Rice Trap. I don’t expect them to be as unprepared this year, especially with how we pretty much neutralized Fine for three quarters before we called off the blitz.

I was busy last night and never had a chance to update this thread, so here is my next pick in the breakdown.

#12 UTEP

Again, I hate to place another western team this far back, but I got to go with what I see. Dimel starts his 2nd season with the toughest job in C-USA West. Yes, LA Tech and USM have smaller budgets, but it is a much tougher sell trying to lure quality recruits to the desert of far west Texas. Last season UTEP had a bad offense and a bad defense. While the Miners return the majority of their offense from last season, they will have to replace a majority of the defense. The biggest problem I see is that UTEP does not seem to have the horses to upgrade on either side of the ball. According to 247Sports, UTEP has not landed a class ranked higher than 13th in C-USA in the last 4 seasons. Yes, Dimel has brought in some transfers, but I don't think he has enough of them to make a substantial improvement, but I do think they will be slightly better than last year.

If UTEP beats Nevada and UTSA they will beat Rice & NMSU also. Add the long trip to El Paso for Charlotte and it is not out of the question that UTEP could win 6 games and become bowl eligible.

Unless UTEP is way better than advertised or Nevada is way worse, the Miners are going to lose that game.

Nevada only returns 4 players on offense, and has to replace their QB, RB, and entire middle of their offensive linemen. Add to that the fact they only return 4 starters on defense too. Plus, the game is in El Paso. I like UTEP's chances against Nevada.
