We should be really good in 2021 if the projections are right. Looking forward to an Owl victory.

Agree, and I share the belief that we'll have a good program from 2020 on. Rice will be in a position to compete in and win some of these big games. These kids right now are young, but they have talent. There's a light at the end of the tunnel that isn't a damn train for once.

Both teams are rebuilding currently. 2021 could catch both on the upswing.

It’s interesting to me how this game with Arkansas came into being. Replaced the OSU road game that “will not be rescheduled “. I assume that the OSU game was part of a series that we arranged and played (part of) a few years ago. So...OSU wanted another opponent for their home schedule in our slot? Arkansas was dying to play us and gave us an offer we couldn’t refuse? OSU paid us to get lost? I’m happy with the switch to Arkansas, it’s just very intriguing to me how this happened at this point. I have to assume it was a money play.

Old news. I mentioned it a couple of months ago. I suppose that the official announcement followed the signing of contracts. This should be good for Rice because Arkansas pays more than Oklahoma State for its non-conference home games.

I'm just happy to see us playing another SEC team instead of another BigXII team.

From what I've heard, Arkansas's new AD started this process. He wanted to switch their FCS creampuff games to be in-state opponents. The only in-state FCS game he could get in 2021 was UA-Pine Bluff in October, but UA already had Missouri State on the schedule to open the year. They have tentatively pushed Missouri State to '22 (I expect this to get canceled eventually) and worked with Oklahoma State to move us from @Ok. State to @UA. Apparently, Oklahoma State was cooperative due to some good will from the UA-Ok. State upcoming home-and-home in '24 and '27 and, presumably, some cash incentive. I'm guessing that we couldn't reschedule our Ok. State game because they wanted us to be a season-opening rollover game, and they have no other week one spots open until 2027 when we already have a return leg vs Boise scheduled. I guess '28 on is too far out for them to be interested in committing to a one-off against us right now; the only games they have scheduled that far out are part of a long series with Tulsa.

Any idea what the payout for an Arkansas game is compared to Oklahoma State?

I hear the Razorbacks' punt coverage is highly suspect.

No idea on payout but living in Arkansas now I can tell you Chad Morris is recruiting his butt off with almost zero academic restrictions using the "Clemson model". The program was down when he took over, but he has a much easier path to bringing it back than does Bloom
