NCB: 2019 Preseason MAC Projections
North Coast Bias: Your DEFINITIVE MAC source.

For those unfamiliar, I've been posting preseason projections online for the past few seasons and I am consistently better at predicting the MAC races than EVERY other "expert" prognosticator out there. I will put my past projections up against anyone.

After seeing enough absurd predictions, it's necessary to balance out the ridiculousness.

Here are the "Official" North Coast Bias 2019 Preseason MAC Projections.

WEST
1) NIU
2) Toledo
3) Eastern Michigan
4) Western Michigan
5) Ball State
6) Central Michigan

EAST
1) Buffalo
2) Ohio U.
3) Miami U.
4) Kent State
5) Bowling Green
6) Akron

MACC: NIU over Buffalo

The West I have the same as I've had it the past couple seasons with the division title coming down to NIU and Toledo with EMU as the dark-horse, and Ball St, Western, and Central jockeying for position in the bottom half of the division.

I actually have EMU and Toledo tying for second with Toledo winning the tie-breaker by virtue of a head-to-head win at home. It wouldn't surprise me if these two teams flip-flop order. And despite my listing EMU officially finishing third, I think they may be the second best team in the division.

Tie-breakers come into play for 4th/5th place as well in my projections with Western edging out Ball State due to hosting the head-to-head matchup. I can see Ball State winning that game on the road, so again, I wouldn't be surprised to see these two teams flip-flop positions.

The biggest surprise, to me, is that I ended up picking Buffalo to win the East. At first glance, the obvious pick is Ohio but it didn't work out that way after going through the schedule game-by-game.

I had both tied at the top of the division with UB winning the tie-breaker over Ohio that included wins over both OU and MU. If Miami can win the game against Buffalo, it flips everything. Ohio would win the East outright and Miami and Buffalo tie for second with Miami winning the tie-breaker over UB, dropping Buffalo to third.

I foresee a three team race in each division, ultimately ending in an NIU vs Buffalo rematch in Detroit.

RE: NCB: 2019 Preseason MAC Projections
In order to temper everyone's expectations and predictions, we must remember that Toledo, as usual, wins the recruiting battles and annually gets predicted as #1 in the MAC West. They are the favorite of the MAC front office and the media. Therefore, since this has not changed, I predict the same yearly results, where NIU wins the west and the MACC. Thank you to all who continue to predict the greatness of the Toledo Rockets! 01-ncaabbs 01-wingedeagle

Great stuff NorthCoast. I would probably pick Ohio over Buffalo due to an experienced QB vs. an inexperienced one but in the MAC (sorry, MAC Conference) you never know.

Same. With the amount of big play makers Buffalo lost too, I just have a feeling they will take a decent step back and Ohio or Miami take the East.

I'd be fine with WMU finishing second in the West.

I would tend to agree about Ohio winning the east. However, they seem to have trouble getting over the hump om a fairly regular basis. I would not be surprised with Miami winning the east, setting up a NIU v. Miami rematch of the 2010 heartbreaking MACC.

We're not the favorite nor deserve to be with new system and new coach. In East Ohio is fav as 81 said because of their QB. I think Miami is arriving and their win against us last year was a HUGE confidence builder and a sign they have made the turn.

88. Northern Illinois Huskies

Relative Strengths: Wide Receiver, Linebacker
Relative Concerns: Defensive Line, Wide Receiver
Here’s The Deal: New head coach Thomas Hammock will be a fun personality in the MAC. He’ll keep the running game going, but the defense won’t have the killers to get into the backfield that led the way to the MAC championship. The Huskies will be a factor in the conference title chase again.
2018 Final Season Ranking: 38

This is pretty much what CFN does every year.

The @CBSSports Preseason 130 is up, and every single team is ranked correctly. Nobody is overrated or underrated.

https://t.co/OR3yvrM3su

Also, congratulations to Northern Illinois for being ranked No. 69.

Nice to see Vandy at #80, thought they were supposed to be tough this year? If we at least take them and Illinois State down we'd have a reasonable 2-2 tally going into the MAC.

GO HUSKIES!
