Lots of great memories their, I will share one, midnight watching film from the games and teams with Dodson. It served a great purpose. Was nicer then it should of been. all jacked up, thanks for the new Venue. That's when, I was a manager on the team. Lots of late nights and early morning, Think, I did everything from washing clothes to line the practice field and run the practice clock. And everything in between. Glad for a New Day.

Sooo tempted to comment but I am unsure how long the current suspensions are and it is too close to the season

I thought I read where it would be a new practice field and training room.

One memory I have is dropping by to visit while the coaches were busily evaluating film on a prospect from South Carolina named Roddy White.

I went by and got two bricks to keep for a reminder of where we came from, the events housed at that building (Infamous Watts speach and shutdown) and where we are now.

I talked with Coach Clark in that building. I think it was after the shutdown and after the announced return.

I saw old peanut butter jars in the locker room/meeting room.

I attended a father/son camp under McGee and we went into "film room" to take a break and watch some kind of video. The condition of those facilities were far worse than the 4A high school I attended, and we were not a powerhouse.
I still feel a little dirty when I think back to going into McGee's office to buy a black hat that simply said "Ring the Bell", but has zero reference to UAB on it. I think I got ripped off. :)

I remember the video of McGee and his wife touring the locker room right after his hire. The look on his face wasn't pretty.

We had everything we needed to win..... except a coach. Clark proved that. :)

That corner on University Blvd would be a nice place for the Sports Medicine facility Clark's been wanting. That would be a nice gateway to campus.

We had everything we needed to win..... except a coach. Clark proved that. :)

Coach McGee, like Callaway and Brown, had zero prior experience coaching in a program with no football facilities. I will always believe the reason Brown had such a long tenure was because the AD when Brown was hired had promised him new facilities which never materialized (until 2016). Coach McGee simply told Blazer fans in 2011 what they had wanted to hear -- that facilities and better players were not needed to win more games-- only better coaching. I don't believe it was mere coincidence that our new football facilities and the better players they attracted helped make Coach Clark an even better coach than the 6-6 record of 2014.

Now that UAB has launched its serious football program with its new facilities and a great staff, it is time to decide what to build next in order to continue the growth from here. The other FBS programs are building too, and if we are to keep pace, we must grow as well. What "next step" does Coach Clark want to take to remain competitive?
