Anthony Ekpe is the largest of the bunch, so I assume he'll be playing at the inside spot with Blaze Alldridge to stuff the run.
Antonio Montero and Treshawn Chamberlain appear to be quicker, and better equipped to cover the RB's out of the backfield, as well as blitz the QB. I'm I right that they'll be on the outsides?
Then there's Dylan James and JaQuez Battley. They're young. It looks like these guys will be providing depth.
The LB corps looks stacked. Thoughts?
Also, are any of them big and physical enough to back up the Defensive Ends? We're real thin on the DL.
Check out the Roost
Anthony Ekbe is moving to DE. Right now Trey Schuman is starting on the opposite side.
At linebacker, Blaze Alldredge and Antonio Montero have the inside. Dylan Silcox and Collin Whitaker are pushing hard, and will play in rotation throughout the LB corps.
Cornerbacks Andrew Bird and D'Angelo Ellis are the starters in the secondary, with Tyrae Thornton and Treshawn Chamberlain behind them.
At Safety, Prudy Calderon and George Nyakwol are the starters, with Chamberlain and Naeem Smith in the mix.
Dead board.
Here are few corrections. I am listing guys that I have read that are definitely 1s and 2s. For example, I'm not certain as to who is the 2nd team defensive end behind Trey Schuman or George Nyakwol:
1st Team Defense
DE - Trey Schuman
NT - Elijah Garcia / Javante Hubbard
DT - Miles Adams / DeBraylon Carroll
Rush - Anthony Ekpe/Kenneth Orji (Rush is a hybrid DE/LB position)
LB - Blaze Alldredge / Garrett Grammer
LB - Anthony Montero / Dylan Silcox
Viper - Treshawn Chamberlain / Dasharm Newsome (Viper is a hybrid Safety/LB position)
FS - George Nyakwol
SS - Prudy Calderon/Naeem Smith
CB - Andrew Bird/Tyrae Thornton
CB - D'Angelo Ellis
Freshmen Izeya Floyd (DL 6-2 335 squats over 700lbs), Tre'shown Devones (CB), and Joshua Landrum (CB) have also impressed on defense according to At The Roost.

RE: Fall Camp?
Great job. It sounds like the Viper is asked to be all over the field, and I like that the freshmen here are stepping up.

Y’all move him all over. Sometimes he’s a nickel guy to the field and sometimes he’s deep middle safety in a couple looks.

It's an interesting and subtle difference in comparison to the 4-2-5.

RE: Fall Camp?
FWIW, if needed, some decent QB's have become available:
Sophomore quarterback Jake Haener has elected to leave the Washington football program, effective immediately...
Mississippi State QB Keytaon Thompson had entered his name into the transfer portal...
North Carolina reportedly saw redshirt freshman QB Cade Fortin put his name in the transfer portal...
linky: Jake Haener leaves Washington a day after losing QB competition

My jaw is agape about what the transfer portal has brought forth.
Lose a QB battle for starting position --- announce the next day you are transferring.

I am told it all depends on the O-line, so These QBs are unnecessary.
When the offense consists mainly of finely varied renditions of a slow developing tailback toss dive the OL becomes very important.

The OL blocks whoever is in position to stuff the run.
The QB limits how many they have to block
The TE and FB simply change where the gaps can be

Not sure if it's been mentioned or not, but Brendan Suckley, Matthew Sams and Tre'shon Devones have been placed on scholarship. And Austin Trammell, Myles Adams and Chris Barnes have been named team captains for the year.

That’s what Granato did a couple years ago. Lost out in camp so grabbed his cat and headed north.

FYI ... Granato is a senior for the Bears this year. The past two years, he's been backup to Garden City CC transfer Peyton Huslig, who's also a senior this year. J.T. has had a good Spring Game and fall camp.

RE: Fall Camp?
Here's my take on fall camp: we spelled "who's" wrong on the first page of the camp notes. Second headline in large bold typeface reads: "Whose Back?" Kinda funny.

Hmmmmm...
"and even came up with an interception when third-stringer J.T. Granato lofted up a poor throw off his back foot. "
