Hope he does better than this guy:
Maybe that UTSA game is looking a little less certain?
Actually, I also am glad to give a younger guy a chance in this instance, rather than a grad transfer who he was apparently close in the race to. If it wasn't a clear advantage to have the older guy, then go ahead and try to develop the younger one. Both will probably end up playing, given the schedule, and perhaps others. But I hope we stay healthy and give Army a game, at least, if not steal a win!

Green is better, a lot better than Stewart. Not sure why it took so long to name the starter. Stewart should be #3 in depth chart...if that

??? Stop acting as if Green was a 4- or 5-star recruit with significant upside. In fact, he wasn't even a 3-star recruit. He is what he is. Yes, he can get more comfortable in the system-- and his experience in the system is why he was named the starter, but let's not pretend he's a franchise QB.

For many reasons, I do not think we are an easy sell to most 3+ star QBs right now. As we saw in November, QBs with other FBS options may very well go somewhere else.
We can turn our noses up to recruiting guys like Green as just a 2-star guy we grabbed when Bloomgren was hired, but I think that's being unrealistic. Of our current 5 QBs, only 2 had any other D1 scholarship offers at all and both were 2-stars (Green and Towns). Only Towns was even rated in the top 100 QBs in their class. That said, Green won a private school state championship, Towns was the #1 passing QB in DFW in the largest public school classification and a HS track star. Those guys were scouted/recruited in high school and had the statistics and abilities that give them a chance to do some things at a D1 level in college. Guys like that are about in the neighborhood of what we are going to be able to recruit until we consistently win some games, so we need to figure out how to take players like that and make it work. Let's give those guys some runway to develop, as they are still really young for Green to be getting ready to try and lead us through a schedule like ours (and let's not forget he is not surrounded by 5-star players, either). I am hoping Green has a great season and we surprise some people, then begin to build Rice as a place good QBs would want to come play.
Heard Bloomgren say Marshman has improved his passing and is throwing the deep ball better than ever. I hope he gets on the field, at least to spell Green from time to time. He makes plays, moves the chains. Many ruled him out as a QB but I would have him as the #2 and alternate him at times.
