El Paso Strong
Can we try this again without all the political bickering? We are deeply hurt and could use some encouraging words from fellow Americans across the country.

We stand with you El Paso. Violence like this regardless of the ideology behind it is abhorrent, and from the MT community condolences, sympathies, and prayers are with you all - especially the families who have been affected by this horrific act. Hang in there. Respectfully, Chad

RE: El Paso Strong
No Man is an Island'

No man is an island entire of itself; every man
is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;
if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe
is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as
well as any manner of thy friends or of thine
own were; any man's death diminishes me,
because I am involved in mankind.
And therefore never send to know for whom
the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

Wide experience with EP, used to live there.

We are with you.

I was busy this weekend with my 3 yo's birthday so didn't hear the news until Sunday and wondered why there was no post on here. I did figure it was do to it devolving into political BS (which I do believe should be discussed as a nation but not here and not now).

My heart goes to the friends & family of those lost and all of the El Paso community. So tragic and senseless. **** that guy and God bless El Paso.

I've never had the privilege to visit El Paso, but I've certainly admired your city and school long distance. Even more so now.

No community should have to deal with the senseless evil that was committed this past weekend. Our thoughts are with you.

Beautiful city. I visited for the first time last year. The bars. The food. The women. Top notch. Can't wait to go back. Need to learn the language before I go though. :)

You can't let one idiota change your way of life. Stay strong and be blessed. 04-cheers

Spent many weekends in El Paso during my time stationed at Holloman AFB, NM. Always have been one of my favorite cities in the U.S. Beautiful people, beautiful place.

Let the strong be strong for those who can't....embrace those that mourn. Stand in unity against hate and senseless violence - of all cuts of fiber.

It’s not gone. It was bumped to the spin room for those that wish to discuss the political aspects of this tragedy.

Thoughts and prayers are with the people of El Paso, and our former conference mate in the A-10, Dayton. Good people up there too.

RE: El Paso Strong
Saturday was a bad day for me personally.

Although I’m not from El Paso, I have great memories from the time I lived there. El Paso is one of those places where they make you feel like home. It’s common to hear the word “mijo” all the time. I’ve been to that Walmart a few times, it’s right in the middle of town and if I’m not mistaken it’s the busiest Walmart in the nation.

RE: El Paso Strong
Thank you my conference brothers and sisters. I am a high school tennis coach and the school where I teach is about 1 mile from the Wal-Mart. I can't begin to describe the fear I had for my players knowing that many of them shop at that store. Sending text messages to try and get them to all check in will forever leave a mark on my heart. Seeing the mother of two of my former players on television and not being able to reach her mother was devastating. I have lived in El Paso for my entire life, 56 years. I love this city and I just don't know what, or how to think right now, but I do appreciate the thoughts, prayers and well wishes from all the CUSA fans on here.

RE: El Paso Strong
Last night, I was at Ponder Park (in El Paso) watching my nephew play in a coach-pitch baseball game. He is a good kid and I am heavily involved in his life. Not that there is anything wrong with it but he can be quick to cry at times. If he gets scolded, if he trips, if his teacher gets upset with him, etc, here come the water works. Overall, I’m decently modern and don’t force any old school virtues on him. Regarding baseball, as long as he respects his coaches, pays attention, and actually tries, I don’t care if he’s good or awful. I don’t care if he hits the ball or strikes out. I’m supportive. That being said, I’m not perfect, and I can’t stand a crybaby. I have explained to him that a champion isn’t someone who is alway victorious in sports but is someone that is reliable, that is a rock, someone who is an asset, someone you are happy is there in a bad situation. My constant theme to him is to be an asset not a deficit.

He plays first baseball and took a line drive to the nose last night. A little bit of bleeding but he was okay. Obviously it is okay for him to cry in this situation. I tried calming him down after we were certain there was no damage or injury to his face. I went a little retro and told him he needed to stop crying. I told him I needed him to be an asset. Another kid asked what that meant. I told him I wanted my nephew to be someone you can count on even in a bad situation. Not someone who freezes or cries in an emergency.

Oh yeah, the little kid said, especially if there is another shooter.

****, man. That’s what the kids here are going to carry with them for the rest of their lives. ****.
