Monday Musings August
The must anticipated re-launch of Monday Musings is here! It has been a hot summer after June here in the Huron River Valley.
Football has started practices, no more 2 a days for NCAA players, seems like a good idea to keep injuries down. Hope the team remains healthy and off the police blotter.
Very worried about our opener that Southern Heat and Humidity is no Joke.
New Building looks nice, hope the sense of home gets the team to play better at home because we have had some heart breaking losses the last 50 years at Rynearson Stadium.
College football attendance is down nation wide but I feel like EMU is going against the grain and making the in game experience better then it ever was when I was a student there.
MSU and Uofm instead of giving millions of dollars to out of state group of five teams should play emu cmu wmu once a year on a 4 and 1 deal. thats right four games at home then 1 game at the MAC. MSU did this the last decade and EMU bought out of their game which I still think was a mistake... (wouldn't that game have been this year?
Stay healthy normal huron eagles!

I have seen the photo of the 'completed' new building.

It doesn't have any of the things like emblems, flags, landscaping, etc. etc.

I hope EMU is creative in embellishing the front of the building. Green and gray go well together. :)

I was at Rynearson a few weeks ago. The cement around the handrails of the "new" sections are all crumbling. It's been repaired, but now the repairs have crumbled. Considering how little use they get they should have lasted forever.

The football building looks good from inside Rynearson. Nothing spectacular, but okay. Sort of unimaginative shoebox design though. The opposite side of the building is awful. A bunch of horizontal stripes broken up by solids and vertical windows. Not a good look.

I have a musing for us:

How in the hell did these new MSU uniforms get approved? I'm sure these are alternatives that'll be worn for one/two games, but I'm certain these are the ugliest college football unis I've ever seen.

Dear Frank,
I think they are trying to copy the University of Oregon, who in the last few years have gone neon crazy with their uniforms.
I guess I'm just old-fashioned. I think uniforms should carry a traditional look with maybe a tweek or two. I still harken for the EMU on the shoulders of the uniforms starting when Boisture was head coach.

I was there on Saturday and they seem to be preparing to install the engraved brick pavers. There was a few pallets of pavers sitting around. The backside still looks a little rough, but some clean up and grass should help.

Dammit Ken I LOVED the EMU blazoned on the shoulder pads and until now I thought I was the only one. That look prevailed past Boisture and endured through my college days 74-79. Two things could prohibit bringing back that shoulder look. One, the pads are far smaller than they were then. And two, we are just two old farts who are just resistant to the new look of today's uniforms.

Dear Jerry,
I thought I was the only one! You are correct about old farts resistant to change. Just two peas in a pod. HA-HA.
