If i remember correctly, the MAC typically announces the basketball schedules soon after Labor Day. schools, like WMU, may announce their non-conference schedules earlier. for example, i know Ohio is participating a tournament in November in Myrtle Beach with Baylor and Villanova among others. but yeah, we're getting closer to the MAC announcements!

KSU has announced most of their non-conference schedule:

Home games with Detroit and Cleveland State.
Away against Wright State, Mississippi St. &, Towson.

UTEP Tournament which includes UTEP, UC Irvine, and North Carolina A&T.

Probable but not fully announced yet: an exempt tournament which would give Kent 3 home games and a game at Ohio State.

That would be 11 out of conference games.

Here's what's been cobbled together on the Miami boards:

Saturday 11/9 vs Wright State
Saturday 11/16 vs Alabama A&M
TBD vs Northern Kentucky (home-and-home return)
TBD @ Army (home-and-home return)
Monday 11/25 Gulf Coast Classic vs. Drake
Tuesday 11/26 Gulf Coast Classic vs. Northeastern/South Alabama
Wednesday 11/27 Gulf Coast Classic vs. TBD
Saturday 12/7 @ Evansville (home-and-home return)
Wednesday 12/18 @ Louisville

Based on our non-conference schedule from the past few years I'm guessing we'll have at least one NAIA matchup and another buy game.

11/2 Kalamazoo College (most likely an exhibition but I don't see it labeled as such)
11/6 McNeese St
11/9 @Milwaukee
11/12 Mississippi Valley St
11/15 @Mississippi
11/19 Alma
11/22 @Oklahoma St
11/25 NIT Tourney: Yale
11/26 NIT Tourney: Bucknell or Seattle
12/3 Oakland
12/7 Youngstown St
12/14 @Manhattan
12/18 Aquinas
12/29 @Michigan St

About what it usually is. I don't get why we never play teams from the other G5 Conferences, at least the SunBelt.

It doesn't seem like we do either. I don't know why either.

Monday 11/25 Gulf Coast Classic vs. Drake

Sunday 12/15 vs Mississippi Valley State
Wednesday 12/18 @ Louisville
Saturday 12/21 vs Bradley
Monday 12/30 vs Wilberforce (NAIA)

Officially released today, I edited the list above to reflect the actual schedule. No other buy games or an anticipated return game at Army, but we added powerhouses like Central State, Mississippi Valley, and Wilberforce. Bradley will be a good matchup in all seriousness, I just wish it wasn't during winter break.

Wright State/Northern Kentucky/Bradley is a sneaky good home OOC trio. All 3 will contend for league titles and have top 100 potential.

It is, we've actually had some okay home-and-home non-conference opponents the last few years that made the Big Dance that season even if they're not a powerhouse. If you could take out Alabama A&M/Mississippi Valley and Central State/Wilberforce and replace with a buy game against a bad power conference team we could beat (e.g. Cal, Rutgers) and a home-and-home with Dayton, it'd be perfect. UD is still too far above us for them to take that kind of deal, though if we get to be a winning program again and they stay in the meh range they've been at since Archie Miller left you never know.

Winning is a huge factor.

Kent usually has one of the best non-conference schedules in the MAC built on the rep they've earned over the past couple of decades in men's basketball.

11/30 Detroit
12/4 Rio Grande
12/8 Tennessee Tech
12/17 Purdue
12/21 Morehead State
12/29 Campbell

No D1 home games before 11/30 and no road games in December. Home game against Purdue is the highlight.

I'm pretty sure it was by taking less money for the 2017 football game at Purdue.

it's just unfortunate that it takes place while the students are gone for break. but, i believe this same situation happened several years ago when we hosted Kentucky and Wisconsin.
